I think all three are in the same boat, especially formations wise, only reason I see Kartum going before them is the other reason I mentioned. (Well, that and they were on the bench yesterday and he wasn’t)
-
Also agree with this. He doesnt need to start every match, but surely the best place to develop is on the pitch with Hearts.
-
Why won't Beni ever shoot towards goal? That, my friend, is one of life's great mysteries.....

i actually think he’s the replacement for shanks. They both want to come deep and link the play, whereas Elton wants to make that run in behind. We had a much better balance when Elton came on yesterday and that no criticism of Wilson.
-
This. Our strikers will rotate a fair a bit around Shankland anyway over the course of the season as injuries, suspensions, tiredness or dips in form happen. Not sure why after competitive game number one where he has scored a goal, Wilson is being singled out.

The holding or defensive midfielder role is I think between Beni and McEntee. Devlin then comes after them, and his lack of ability when in possession is his greatest weakness. We might play 2 against tougher sides (e.g. Beni & McEntee together) but should normally be playing only one. Hoff I think is the central midfielder, and it will be interesting to see which system(s) DM uses: 4-4-2 with 2 wingers means a central midfielder of McEntee and Hoff. With 1 winger, and adding a 10, it could be Brava or Kartum or perhaps even Kabore when he signs. 4-5-1 or 3-5-2 might also come into contention - with the 5 being holding, central and attacking and 2 wingers. Looking forward to seeing what happens this season!

Things change over a season but as it stands right now I just don’t see how Karum fits. The only reason I didn’t suggest he might go is because he hasn’t been here long but I guess that doesn’t matter much these days, evidenced by Oyegoke and Boateng. Others on the list who could go are Spittal and Dhanda but Spittal can play midfield, which might save him and I think Dhanda is a good option for when we run out of ideas against packed defences, which he’s shown a dew times before.
-
Yip, he needs to build a solid partnership with the centre backs and I believe that should be Halkett and Findlay.
-
Felt bad for Kartum too. Think he’s one who may suffer from both formation choices and dare I say not belonging to the Scottish/British/Irish core at the club. (Which Australians always seem to get lumped into too)

***Official Heart of Midlothian v Dunfermline Match Thread***

Glad DM not having to deal with aftermath of poor result. He knows himself the middle 60 mins were not great. Mcintee RB, professional footballers that still cant be persuaded to take a shot from 18 yds out. Braga LM, all provided some food for thought for him They gifted us 2 pens but fair play to AF and EK for making them happen, and Shanks for dealing with the pressure. Hoff, Spittal, Elton, Borch all provided a spark that was needed. Some decent data and viewing for DM and at no cost. Happy enough 😊 -
Don't see what he did yesterday that proves he shouldn't be starting games? He scored within three minutes and twice was in a great position in the box for Forrest to cut the ball back to him only for Forrest to find an opposition defender. He also dropped deep a few times to pick up passes in midfield to help drive us forward. Absolutely justified in starting games right now. This country is strange when it comes to young players. Either they're touted for multi-million pound moves to England or Europe or they need to be sent out on loan. In my opinion, Wilson is good enough to be starting games for us and when he does eventually move in the future, I'm convinced we'll get big money for him.

This is definitely a worry. The problem for me is not Jamestown itself but we signed players for different Managers and players without a Manager in place. It's clear that Graeme Jones who has never played or Managed at any level in Scotland should not of been signing players. I said from day 1 that The Data is only as good as the people using it,until.McInnes came in we have had too many poor decision makers.

McEntee will be a key player this season. I think he was played out of position just to get more time in his legs. McInnes said that was the case when he played him there against Crawley. He did a reasonable job. Borch being nursed in, in my opinion, due to fitness issues. Probably sensible player management by DM. Braga. Love his enthusiasm. Will be a real asset in time. Just needs a bit of patience at the moment. Would play him alongside Shanks against Hamilton to help him build confidence in probably his best position. Happy days when we can scud a fired up lower league team treating this as a chance to take a big scalp, without playing anywhere near our potential best team, and not even firing on all cylinders. The signs are positive but a little more patience will be required until the team gel properly.
-
I'll bet your Pars supporting mates would have him in their team though as he'd instantly become their best player
-
I think you're right. Can see Wilson, Vargas and Musa all being sold.
-
Tennis, is it?
-
Dive? Looked like he tried hard to stay on his feet.
-
Aye it’s not a case of if some move on, it’s a case of who. The obvious one for decent cash is Wilson. We also have Vargas who simply isn’t going to play as a centre forward and we will have wingers, so he won’t play wide either. Musa, not even on the bench yesterday, is another that looks like there’s no place for him. Won’t start at cf or wide.
-
I’ve honestly no idea what game people watch. His deliveries were brilliant bar one cross that was over hit. Don’t know if it’s people looking back on players who have left with rose-tinted glasses but his deliveries yesterday were as good, if not better, than both Cochrane and Penrice regularly produced.
-
We’ve already had a few miss out on even a place on the bench and we’ve had a forward (and a midfielder for that matter) played out of position in our first game. And that’s with Vargas and three signings expected not eligible yet. Unsustainable would be the word.
-
Correct, the politicians are just playing around the edges. Unless we have legal sovereignty over this matter nothing will change. It’s the only effective means of dealing with this and the government needs to take ownership - if they don’t then the majority in England will give them their clear answer at the next election - Farage.
