Heart of Midlothian 2025 summer transfer thread - Shankland signs 3 year deal

He could well be a stalwart in the team -
This is a great read, thanks for sharing. It does show a clear pathway in the player trading model. Long story short - don't fall in love with any of our players any more, if they're good they're likely going to be leaving.

Bang. On mate 👍🏻

Agree, onwards and upwards, can't remember ever being so buzzing for a new season after such a disappointing previous season.

My wife just got them about 6 months ago. Went to Costco. Got the hearing test.Free. Got the custom made aids within a couple of weeks. The AB Blue Cross plan paid $800 of the cost. Our own insurance plan paid $1300 of the rest of the cost. Leaving $75 out of pocket for us. And we are claiming that against my health care spending account from my part time school bus driving job. Total cost to us of zero. 🤷♂️

I agree, with Penrice leaving I think we need to sign another LB, at least as cover for Milne if not as an improvement. It's all very well having players in other positions that might be able to cover at LB, but as we saw last season, we ended up very exposed at RB after Taylor was injured and Oyegoke was sold, we also suffered 3 injuries to our CBs which meant any CB who might have been able to cover as RB was needed as a CB. It meant we had to throw Forrester into the first team when the plan was for him to play for the B team for the first half of the season then go out on loan. -

He was played out of position before and also played RW under RN, I don't buy it, early Season he was humpty Anyway, even I don't see the point chatting about last Season with regard to shankland The Manager wanted him, the Club delivered and he says he's happy to be here, so it should be safe to assume he's going to put full effort in, isn't it? Anything to the contrary doesn't bear thinking about and since nothing's even happened yet, I'm going to sit and watch what does, assuming the Hearts are going to kick arse, natch -

There is a feeling that Kingsley is injury prone nowadays. He had the concussion issue which is a bit of a freak injury, he then did his hamstring. Just before the Euros there was a feeling that Kingsley should have been in the squad. I think he could still be a key player. -
All that's needed is a classy bronze bust installed within the Hearts museum along with a précis of Ann Budge's involvement during her tenure. Something which acknowledges what she did for the club, and done with respect. Stand naming? Nah, not for me. Keep the stands named as they are. The 'bronze bust' idea could be added to, say every 5 years; kind of like a 'Hall of Fame' thing. After all, it's likely that James Anderson is equally worthy, and there are no shortage of players from Hearts' history who could be added so as to make it a collection of Hearts icons. Just me 'typing out loud', so to speak, so please dinnae slaughter me if I'm way out of line with such a suggestion.

What a day yesterday was. Shankland re-signs. We get linked with a left winger from the Estonian top flight. We get linked with a right winger from the Italian fourth division. Looks like Penrice is off for ~€2m. It is truly like living in a game of football manager. -
Fair enough, but I don't think the goal drought was anything to do with not getting a move and more to do with being played out of position. I know some will say he started up front last season and wasn't scoring, but he also had a slow start the season before, 1 goal in 8 or 9 games then ended with 31 once he got into a groove. Main thing is, we've got another 3 seasons at least of Shanks and I think he will thrive under DM who was so keen to get him signed and will absolutely play to his strengths. What's done is done, it's all about the future, and the future is maroon!

What do we do with Kingsley? Is he one that most fans would be happy if moved on? Doesn't seem to be in the picture too much now and I think his days as a 1st team player are gone? Is he worth keeping as a back up or do we look to shift him and bring in better? - Today

Can't see Kingsley LB tbh, he seems to break down when he has to sprint too much. -
Hate to lose Penrice, but if the fee is closer to 2 than 1 million, then that is a great piece of business by Hearts. And I’m guessing the wages would make it unfair for Hearts to say “no” to a competitive offer and would absolutely hurt Hearts ability to sign rising talent in the future. Additionally, congrats to Penrice on this move. Athens and Edinburgh are tied for my favorite Euro cities. Penrice is age of life where this has to be a great new adventure, fair play to him. Working his way from Partick and Livi to Hearts to AEK is a great testament to his hard work.

Why would Canadians not want to become the 51st state? While the United States represented about 4.2 percent of the world's population in 2020,[6] it housed around 20 percent of the world's prisoners.

That's a lot of assumptions mate, the main thing, though, is that not signing that deal stopped everything, of course it's possible there could have been a bid and a release clause That's the course I think SN wanted to take, or at least move shankland on; he wanted the money from the sale and may well have had conversations with shankland about it, or maybe kept his cards close to his chest Regardless, the goal drought was related to not getting a move, it was at the root of everything -
Let me try and make sense of what you are saying. You believe Shank's head was up his arse because he didn't sign a deal last January? And if he'd signed a deal last January his head wouldn't be up his arse so we wouldn't have got Critchley as manager, meaning Naismith would have remained as manager because the reason he lost his job was that Shank's head was up his arse?

Unless your hearing issues are affecting your quality of life, forget about buying hearing aids. A degree of hearing loss is as natural as graying hair. Live with it. I know numerous people who have hearing aids and, without exception, they hate them. Plus the costs are extortionate, verging on a scam.

Craig Gordon and Zander Clark what's the story?
davie1980 replied to footballingarts's topic in The Terrace
Not sure there needs to have been any assurances. Zander signed a deal that would have paid well, to be a Hearts player as part of a squad with 3 first team goalkeepers Clark is a good goalkeeper. Craig Gordon is fading with inevitable age. If Clark has any confidence in his abilities, he'll have signed believing he can recover the number one jersey, not having to have been assured he'll get it. And if he doesn't do enough, or Gordon doesn't dip enough to jistify the swap, he's nobody to blame but himself. That's football, the only guarentee of a start should be by being the best man to get tue jersey. Otherwise, he could have ran down his deal and found a club that doesn't have 3 good, first team ready, goalkeepers. -
I'm not a 'keyboard warrior' and I'm not going to slaughter or patronize you. But I want to point out that you mis-spelled her name. Twice. And it's a no from me about naming a stand after her. "Budge stand" sounds ridiculous; it's like saying "Move stay."

Ricardo Quaresma replied to tartofmidlothian's topic in The Terrace
Nah, mate, If he'd signed the deal last January, I'd envisage a timeline where his head wasn't up his arse and we'd all be blissfully unaware of critchley's existance Better for all parties
