Summer 24 Transfers - Beni signs 2 year deal
stuart500 replied to Juho_Makela_Goal_Machine's topic in The Terrace
Agree entirely about the defensive weakness on the right and hopefully we can seriously upgrade on Atkinson and Sibbick. Sell them if possible but if they stay they would be behind genuinely better quality players. Lewis Neilson would add a bit of physical presence to the back line but not convinced about his positional awareness. I'm sure I read Naismith say that both he and the player know he needs to be sharper on this to be a success against better quality strikers. He's mobile and can certainly ping the ball about so he does have assets. A six month loan to a lower Premiership side might be an option. Definitely want a bit more height and muscle, without sacrificing quality, in the back line as we have struggled against high balls into our box. With a really solid physical defence as a base and a pretty exciting array of attacking talent, Vargas, Dhanda, Oda, Wilson etc this could be an excellent season. -
Thoughts and prayers. They don't make 'em like they used to...stopped by a cold, not in my day.

Mostly happy. Wednesday fans love his energy and enthusiasm plus his versatility and it seems Röhl the new manager appreciates it too. He will not be starting very frequently I would imagine but good for squad depth. Agree. Speculating but Paterson probably would not be a Naismith type player or suit the systems we play I think. Lots of hard work but if he is not good enough to start at Hillsborough he definitely is not good enough to start at Hearts too. Ship has sailed for him in my opinion. -

Maybe they are just calling when suitable availability appears. ? we simply will not have decent number of empty seats to move into. -

Why not just get the whole stadium singing his song in the 30th minute why the need for applause? Although depending how the game is going you might have to move it out until the 31st, 32nd or even 33rd minute! -

Great news !!!!! Over the summer we can work on his > Heading ability! His tracking back ! His long range passing ! Not shi****g it out of tackles ! His shooting! Basically everything a midfielder should be able to do! Should keep the coaching staff busy 🇱🇻🇱🇻

I just got round to watching too and has the opposite opinion. I thought it was way too soft and expected more about the actual disorder and aftermath. They spoke to a few English fans, 1 Italian, and a couple of staff. No police input. No mention of Italians getting specifically targeted and attacked inside the stadium. No comment about the paying folks turned away, or forced to sit on stairs as folk passed out on their seats, etc. I guess I was hoping it would be more probing and investigative, not just retelling the story from the front line.

Yes. See St Mirren's first goal in midweek. Got closer than his usual 3 metres but it was a half-assed challenge. -
Yes it is Ernie - he was a bit of a cult figure but hopeless!

This. He's still used as an example of bad spending and their old sporting director basically used him as an example of it when he joined Norwich. He's seen as one of their all time worst signings by fans due to overpaying transfer fee, 45k per week wages, injuries and also he reportedly earned a million bonus when Norwich got promoted despite not being at the club for two years. None of that is Naismiths fault but I say would make it very very unlikely he's considered there. Their fans would riot.

Well done Laurence Shankland, it was a given after the work you have put in. Now, please stay and help your club and team mates even further, top chap. -

This gets more absurd, the flag flying wife, the wife of Alito, "briefly" flew that flag but he says it was nothing to do with him and it wasn't a political statement. She did it in response to a neighbour flying a flag insulting to Trump, he says. Now I don't know what makes that non political and especially so since at that very moment there were motions around the veracity of the election going through the court. And even putting aside how entirely inappropriate it is, what are these people? Functioning rational adults or thin skinned juveniles, like Trump? Incidentally "briefly" was days.

I was there. My dad managed to find us a relatively safe place in the bottom corner of the Gorgie end near the main stand. There were a few young Rangers Neds standing behind us who showered us and other Hearts fans with spit when Donald scored!

Just gave QT a watch based on this thread. It's still how I remember it. Politicking, talking over each other, and panellists not answering the questions. The host was atrocious. Although I'm not a great fan of his, Salmond did well at actually cutting through the bullshit and answering the questions. Pass marks also to the journalist. Not impressed with the other three. -
🤣🤣🤣 Might be a bit of an ask for Beni to get to 30 goals 🤣🤣 Great that he has signed on again though.
