@Watt-Zeefuik & @Maple Leaf - cheers for your comments etc, guys 👍

The wage bill has always been a problem, and I totally agree with the statement in bold. I have and always will be the eternal optimist, every season no matter what the situation is with the team, I go in thinking this is going to be the one. I genuinely believe I will see them win the title just once before I pop my clogs!

Who do you reckon could have earned those sorts of numbers?

Summer 24 Transfers - Beni signs 2 year deal

I feel that this season we've got the bulk of our transfer activity done early! I think there will be outgoings, likely in the form of Grant, Cochrane and Shanks (especially if he has a really good euros) I think we will replace like for like but outside of that, I think the likes of tait, Denholm etc will be expected to step up or move on in the next season. As boring as the lack of transfer news is, it's a good sign compared to previous seasons of new starting 11's every sumer transfer window. Great to see stability around the squad again! -

Can't believe there's actual Hearts supporting people posting here that Jack would be a good signing. Let it go ffs. -

Very good summary . Yes no matter what others may argue, the GRA fiasco has caused untold damage to the SNP . Saw off two leaders . And quite right too . She is a charlatan , cut from the same cloth as Sturgeon . Presenting herself as a “ woman of the people “ , when in fact she was so far removed from most people’s thinking ( ie GRA ) . She has been found out and wisely decided to bin her “ career “ . Personally I had admired her at the beginning of her career but sadly she is another who has been captured by various weirdos and ideologies . -
I'm not. I think a lot of it now is folk playing up to what they think they should do/believe as a Rangers/ Celtic supporter. But they continue to do so notwithstanding the background of the players.

Sounds like another snodgrass tho at least he had a good career in England behind him -
They went to Spain last year, albeit mainland Spain. As you say, given the chat about it I would guess a game will happen.
-
If it's that obvious why have they not had a hearing yet?

I think you overestimate the religiosity of both fan bases. The majority of both fan bases are likely atheists as is the case with the country in general. Many of both Catholic and Protestant churches are closing their doors for the last time each year as congregations die off and shrink. So that aspect of the identity is becoming less relevant, yes it’s part of the history, But folk are vastly less religious today across the board.

you're missing a team from each of your best and worst draws -
You're absolutely right. The £30K a week player will normally be better, but not markedly.

Thanks, makes sense -
To be fair Celtic have always signed players of different religions. They're still known as a Catholic team, not least by their supporters. Rangers had a period when they didn't (knowingly) sign a Catholic. But the change in policy hasn't really changed their identity.

We are significantly closing the gap. Our turnover in 2014 was £6.5m. Next year it will be £30m plus. We have went from around 8% of Rangers turnover to around 30%. We have closed the gap by around 22% in just 10 years, despite being voted out of the league and building a new stand. I’m sure Mr Anderson and co will have ideas of how we get to the next stage in our evolution. I think it’s pretty obvious we see player trading as one area. We have just signed our biggest sponsorship deal ever, we have some really sellable assets aswell. I don’t like the way you think on this topic. It’s exactly the type of attitude that ensures we won’t ever catch up to them. At 8% of their turnover we aren’t a threat. When we can approach 50%, we’ll then all bets are off. Theres a significant gap in quality of a player on £3k per week compared to £30k. My gut feeling is this quality gap will taper off massively as we approach being able to pay players £15-20k per week. Lets ****ing go for it man. I’m sick of my club being an also ran.

Our club turnover used to be in the £8-9m range as recently as 15 years ago. It's now up to £25m. That revenue growth is faster than either Celtic and Rangers. We used to have about 1/6th of their revenue. We're now closing in on it being more like 1/4th to 1/3rd. The OF aren't underwritten by some magical buoyancy that keeps them at astronomical spending. It's pretty simple, it's bums in seats plus Europe plus player trading plus general commercial plus non-football revenue. We've maxed out our current game ticket sales as much as reasonably possible without spiking ticket prices. It's why we keep coming back to stadium expansion. Our European revenue used to be 1/25th that of the OF in a good season, now it's shaping up to be about 1/4 that of the OF when they don't make the CL, and there's a clear path for us to grow that substantially. The rest—player trading, commercial, and non-football revenue are all driven by the first two, attending support and European success. You get those up and everything else grows. It's entirely likely we never get closer to Celtic than having 1/2 their revenue. So what? That's a perfectly normal place for the third largest club to be in a single country. At that point the Celtic-Rangers-Hearts revenue ratios start to look a lot more like Ajax-PSV-Feyenoord than the freakish and highly unusual duopoloy that's emerged. Yeah, Ajax and PSV still hoovered up 12 of the last 14 Eredivisie titles, but you know what, Feyenoord got two in that time. What would most Hearts fans give to have two league titles in the last 14 years?

Good. He's a wank. Aberdeen fans hate him for good reason. Prime bawbag. Would hate to see him in Maroon. -
He was head and shoulders above everyone else on the park in the first leg.
