Still didn't answer my questions. As I said originally, COVID-driven inflation has masked the Brexit effect because everyone had high inflation, but now nobody's is anywhere near as high or as stubborn as the UK. Somehow every other major economy on the planet has gotten inflation down to a manageable if still uncomfortable level but the UK can't seem to do it. Okay, you make the case that Russia impacted Germany which drew down the Eurozone GDP, so lower inflation, right? So why does the Eurozone have *higher* GDP growth in basically every quarter since 2020 than the UK while still having *lower inflation? In fact the UK has the third lowest GDP growth in the G20 while having some of the highest inflation! And against the G7? Dead last, the only G7 economy to have shrunk post-pandemic. Now why would that be? If not Brexit, what would cause that effect? Inflation is one of the easiest to predict after-effects of Brexit. If Johnson had actually succeeded in negotiating new trade deals with the continent and with other trading partners, as he said he would do, the effect might have been alleviated. But of course that was never going to happen in the first place because intentionally shooting yourself in the foot economically and then crying that all of your friends must immediately drop everything they're doing and rush to aid your newly crippled self is unlikely to get you the promptest of responses, particularly when your friends spent years repeatedly telling you not to point the gun at your shoe and pull the trigger. There is no remotely contemporary theory if international economics under which, all else being equal, throwing up new major barriers to trade and the labor supply *wouldn't* cause a pretty severe economic shock. The *only* way it could have been avoided was, if as was true in the fever dreams Johnson was selling, the UK was such an indispensable state that all the rest of us would fall all over each other to smooth the path for trade with it. That has, to put it mildly, not come to pass. And so *of course* the economic shocks are hitting the UK hard. -
1986 was entirely our fault. Illness and St Liedown aside, the League should've been wrapped up the week before.

I don't think many things would get me close to stop supporting Hearts but if we actively tried to make that happen I'd feel dirty. If it was forced on us that's different.
-
1. I hate Celtic and Rangers whereas I laugh at Hibs 2. Scottish people who support Hearts but not Scotland need their head seeing too. 3. Sean Clare was a F'ING good player 4. Scottish football is much better than our pundits, media and Doncaster realise. 5. I sometimes enjoy the random wee cheer when an opponent scores at Tynecastle. 6. People who rage against Anne Budge are thick or horse poop. 7. I liked Robbie Neilson 8. I often dispare at our support. 9. Our media genuinely are scared of us. 10. The fact our support is diverse (flags, politics, social attitudes) is a strength 💪

Boyce I agree as I think he’s past it. Halkett I think you’re being harsh and he deserves a chance after his injury. Before he got injured in European game he was in Scotland squad and would have been one of the first names on the team sheet for me. He’s made a couple of appearances but not looked anything like the player pre injury. Looking at Beni on Saturday that was the first time I’ve really thought he was back to his pre injury form. Hopefully Halkett is the same as he deserves the chance. -
Does the United Kingdom have restrictions on free movement within its sovereign borders? Indeed. But can the UK government require migrants (asylum seekers, or whatever the term is) to remain in GB rather than NI? And can they enforce that? And if they attempt to, what are the implications of a court finding that they can force people to move from NI to GB? Or indeed that they can't? It's hard to imagine, for example, the courts saying that asylum seekers must live in Wales but not in Cheshire. It's a bit of a mess, whichever way you look at it. The Irish government is reported to be evaluating the implications of the court decision. At the moment, I'd say that the decision means that if someone threatened with Rwanda wants to avoid it, they don't have to make it as far as the Irish Republic. They just have to get to NI. If the British government is serious about the Rwanda legislation it has no choice but to appeal. If an appeal fails it has to try to relocate people in NI back to GB, and hope for a couple of reasons that the courts don't stop them.

He's no good enough? 🤣🤣🤣 This should be in the hot takes thread, his link-up play 2nd to none. Him Beni Shankland 3 best at the club. -
So basically they only really signed 2 players, the rest were loans and if they turn out to be any good they'll be back to their parent club.

So Covid-19 is more dangerous to young people than you might have thought. Isn't it just as well there are vaccines?
-
Still wouldn't want hibs to win a cup final against one of them. But would put either one totally out of existence before Hibs.
-
The diet huns, wee rangers and cousins is spouted all from the other lot in Glasgow to annoy us. They are a horrible lot also.
-
Imo Frankie Kent and Kye Rowles are the best centre half partnership in the league, yet we could still improve on them both.
-
Not atm, I'd agree. But the post you quoted had Spittal in it, just confused me. Because you quoted a post with Spittal in it, I thought you were saying we'd have a better midfield next season so this season's results v Rangers would be irrelevant if comparing our future midfield to theirs.
-
I was talking to a Motherwell season ticket holder a couple of weeks ago and he was very unhappy to be losing Spittal. He thinks we've got a gem who'll thrive at Tynecastle. I've only seen him on highlights but if he can score a few like he did on Saturday he'll do.

Well, Georgia Hunter has been playing for Hearts since she was 12 so I’ll give her a break even if that is true (I have no idea). Had missed that she signed a new deal last week, good news all round - and she gets a bit of security while dealing with her ACL recovery. https://www.heartsfc.co.uk/blogs/news/hunter-pens-hearts-extension -
Yip, makes it much harder to break away from the chasing pack.

Must admit, I’d resigned myself to seeing Beni leave for nothing, but that latest interview gives me some hope. He’s only now getting back to pre-injury levels of fitness and performance, and I’d love to see him sign on for a few more years.
