Potential Hijacking

An internal Libya flight.

What the hell is it doing in Malta. Surely there would be closer airports on the flight path?

It's really not that far from Libya to Malta.

Edit:  221 miles from Tripoli to Malta. about 40 minutes flying.

I know it's not far. But, assuming it was the pilots decision to go to Malta, why not land as soon as possible?

If the hijackers decided to go to Malta, what benefit would that have to them?

...a bit disco

I'd imagine the locals will be cross.

Apparently George and Victoria who run the Coronation Guest house in Valetta are livid.

Probably as simple as being the next place they would arrive on the same flightpath.

Pretty sure they wouldn't fancy their chances with the Libyans.

Also as those of you who went to the B'kara game will know Luqa Airport has a lot of space on the ground.

So glad I am not flying in or out of there today.
