Armageddon
Hmm, that's odd. Just noticing there, that Pardew sent his number two out to do the interviews after the match, and didn't tell him why. 15 clubs Pardew has played for or managed - 4 years has been the longest stint he's ever had at a club, his current Newcastle stint shades his longest time. Palace was his longest stint as a player. ?3.5M is decent compo.

Maroon Sailor
Chris Kamara said this today You don't leave Newcastle to go to Crystal Palace, you get sacked at Newcastle and end up at Crystal Palace. Pardew has an affinity with Palace and still has the family home down there and he might think he's had enough with Ashley and the set up at Newcastle. Paolo
Sally then to Newcastle for the remainder of his gardening leave, to get him off Rangers' wage bill? CJGJ
Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew could be on his way to Crystal Palace following talks between the two clubs. BBC Sport has learned that discussions regarding Pardew moving from Newcastle to Palace have taken place. Reports of an agreement over a ?2m compensation deal between the clubs are said by one source to be wide of the mark. The discussions between the two clubs are continuing this evening Pardew seems to want to go back to London...it seems he spends much of his spare time there already...can't blame him after the actions of fans and the owner back in October. Whilst in stature of club it may be a step down happiness for himself and his family counts a lot more.
The Internet
Honestly have no idea why they'd look at McCoist when there's a younger, better manager pissing the league he struggled in on a fraction of the budget. Mikey1874
Think his relationship with Ashley has run it's course and Newcastle may have identified someone they prefer better - plenty decent managers out of work just now Tim Sherwood perhaps? Locky
Despite Pardew's reasons making sense, it's still a bizarre one. Don't think Pardew's reason for leaving though is anything to do with Ashley. The Newcastle board seemed to back him fully when the fans didn't, even if it was due to the fact being they'd spend a fortune removing him. Pardew was never going to be a great manager for a club like Newcastle and I always remember the bemusement of many when he was the man chosen to replace Hughton. But, in the grand scheme of things he certainly hasn't been a bad manager for them. Maybe he just thinks that, with a divided fanbase he now has the chance of a fresh start where he can have the full support of the whole club behind him. Who knows. Pretty sure he was hoping Pardew would resign after the defeat at Stoke to avoid the big pay out, but Pardew has got thicker skin than he bargained for. This is a good deal for Ashley as he gets rid of him and also gets compensation. Think he was secretly hoping McCoist would walk away too
