Reading this just now, and loving it.  It was a bit hard going at first, as the author uses a bit of slang, but I soon got used to it.

Since the start of the year I've been on a bit of reading frenzy and have read the above books. Hoping to read 100 books this year. Did 80 last year so going to have to keep up this pace if I want to accomplish it.

I’d recommend any book by the American Patricia Highsmith . Incredible author who wrote psychological thrillers . “ The talented Mr Ripley “ is one of her great novels . You seem to like thrillers hence my recommendation.

I tend to like autobiographies or biographies . This is mixture of both with 94 years old Baxter giving a running commentary with the author about his life ,  it’s hysterical at times and very candid and rather risqué with Stanley now bring very open about his sexuality . Some great stories in it . A great read . Good on him for finally coming out at 94 years old !! Poor guy was essentially a victim of a homophobic  early life where he struggled to accept his sexuality and concealed it . But seems to be content now .

She was a terrific author . Very acclaimed . Books mainly dealt with a guy usually who’ here involved in some crime or another and it always spirals from there . Think she wrote over 30 books

Last 3 I’ve read. Enjoyed them all.

I enjoyed American Dirt but thought the ending was a bit rushed.

I read it as I heard all about the massive stink it caused, mainly in the US.  I read when I go to bed and to enjoy a story rather than analyse and critique things so can't comment on all the political stuff but as far as a story goes I enjoyed it.

I do get what you mean about the ending being rushed but I think that's because the build up almost led you to believe there was something big coming.

Would recommend either of the Ambrose Parry. Crime/ mystery set in 19th century Edinburgh with real historical places and people but obviously fictionalised. Writers are actually Christopher Brookmyre and Marisa Haetzman.

Hope you enjoy. I would say the second book is actually better, third one due out later this year.

Just finished this today. Another good read. And ITV are showing a series adapted from these books tonight (Sunday 14th) called Grace at 8pm.

Just finished this. Was pretty good although thought the ending was rushed a little. Still well worth a read. Wouldn't surprise me if it was made into a TV programme.

For some bizarre reason I've actually read a lot less over the last year.

Slow Horses by Mick Herron was decent.  The 'slow horses' are a group of MI5 operatives who have been kicked out HQ, but not the service, for a variety of reasons.  It's the first in a series and I'll probably give the next one a go at some point.

Cage of Souls by Adrian Tchaikovsky.  SciFi/Fantasy author with an extensive catalogue.  I maybe picked the wrong one to start with.  I gave up after reading 75% of it as I'd got to the point where I just didn't care what happened to anyone.

I've just started The Memory Wood by Sam Lloyd.  S'ok so far.

I quite enjoyed it, not really into the video nasty stuff, thought there was too much on that, not his best book but interesting enough all the same. Was definitely better than the one he wrote set on a space station (or whatever it was).

Yeah, pretty much the same. Not his best but it did enough to keep my attention. Nice wee twist at the end. The one on the space station is the only one of his I haven't read, just didn't fancy it at all and you've just confirmed my thoughts. Whilst I was waiting on The Cut coming out I read One Fine Day in the Middle of the Night again. Think it gets funnier with every read.

Just finished this. Entertaining but like the rest of his books, maybe a little too far fetched, especially the ending.

Салатные палочки

Started this on Monday and really, really enjoying it. I don't normally read a lot of fiction but definitely keen to get more if his when this is finished.

I've been reading a lot of the free or 1 pound books from Amazon Prime, but most are bang average at best. Currently reading this from Tom Bradby (the ITV new reader), and it's a bit slow paced for me.

Secret Service: The Sunday Times top ten bestseller

Have just bought this for a pound for my next Kindle read. Cheers for the recommendation.

Good read although a bit repetitive at times which I suppose was inevitable. The parts from JJ about building a team and how to develop young players are very interesting.

Ron Burgundy

On recommendation from a friend,  "Pointless, A season with Britain's worst football team".

It's a few years old but follows East Stirlingshire for a season. Just about to start it.

It's a good series. Also a TV show on Netflix. The first three series sort of follow the books (each series covers 2 books) then they start to diverge from the books.
