NHL playoffs

As an aside, if the unlikely event of a Pens win, I wouldn't mind seeing the Blues win. Mainly to see if Barclay, their absolute beauty service dog in training, gets to scamp about the ice during the Cup celebrations and if he gets his name on the Cup.

Nashville have given away flashing necklaces for the game tonight - annoying as **** trying to watch the game.

Watched Game 2 of the Bruins Leafs last night.

I know it's the playoffs and the refs tend to put their whistles away, but I was quite surprised how much they let things go.

Boston were dirty AF all game but Kadri managed to sell the jerseys and looks set to get a long suspension for his cross-check to the face of De Brusk.

Big comeback needed by Pittsburgh to survive.

Regarding the Islanders - would quite like to see coach Barry win the Stanley Cup again plus it would be a nice 'GIRFUY JOHN' story for the NYI fans and a positive turn around for Robin Lehner after his recent mental health issues.

Very surprised to see Tampa and Pittsburgh pumped out after less than a week.

Vegas looking pretty shit hot (Pacioretty has even turned up).

Hoping for Toronto and Boston to get back to the cheapshots of Game 2 after a fairly tame Game 3.

Really enjoying these playoffs so far.

But here they are:

EAST

Tampa 4 Columbus 0

New York 4 Pittsburgh 2

Washington 4 Carolina 3

Boston 4 Toronto 1

WEST

St Louis 4 Winnipeg 2

Nashville 4 Dallas 1

Calgary 4 Colorado 0

Vegas 4 San Jose 2

Cup Prediction: Got to be Tampa Bay

It's an interesting play-off this year, for sure.

Leafs had their chances in this series ... they won two games in Boston, for example ... but the Bruins were the better team and deserved to win.

Lot of the people on my twitter are Bruins fans due to a common like of the RedSox and they were in full meltdown dropping 3-2 and going to Toronto. Nothing like Boston sports for meltdowns though ?

Yeah, when the series was heading back to Toronto with the Leafs leading 3-2 I was quite hopeful, but the Leafs were flat in game six, and again in game seven.  And that, as they say, was that!

Pyjama boy was pretty gash the whole series. And Jake Gardiner did what Jake Gardiner does best.

Just reading up about the major penalty call in the Vegas SJS game :berra:

OK.  I haven't heard that.  Yes, he was a disappointment.  Two goals in seven games, one of which was into an empty net.

Oh well.

If its any consolation, I hadnt a clue either. I thought it was directed at Mathews and his questionable fashion choices.

In other news, Washington -

Think the cup is going west this year.

After a terrible set of predictions for round one, here’s my shouts for the conference semis.

St Louis 4 Dallas 1

Colorado 4 San Jose 3

Columbus 4 Boston 2

NYI 4 Carolina 2

What did you not understand about the dug?

Anyway, here's his Insta page. He's got quite following amongst NHL fandom (and beyond):

https://www.instagram.com/stlbluespup/?hl=en

As with most of the service dogs around the teams, he made the yearly team photo and the players appear to enjoy having him around. I'm hoping they win it and he gets on the cup.

I somehow missed your first post about Barclay - I only saw the #TeamBarclay ones.

I see the NHL has apologised to Vegas for the shan Cody Eakin call :look:

Judging by your predictions this year, looks like it'll be a Carolina-St Louis Barclay's final.

I wanted Dallas so much, but it's hard to win with only one great line.

Now I wish all the best to Sharks (like in 2016) - they deserved the Cup. Couture, Pavelski, Thornton, Vlasic, Braun - such a great group of players, so much time together.

Boston is in phenomenal form, you can't deny this.

San Jose Sharks vs Boston Bruins - come get some.

The best side won the Cup in 2016. :greggy:

As they did in 2017 as well. :greggy:

The NHL refs definitely seem to want San Jose in the finals ::troll::

Oh... how about the golden generation 2003 - 2004 and 2005 - 2006? "Unstoppables" - even lockout didn't stop them :qqb006:

I don't think anyone was responsible. Pavelski fell awkwardly.

The refs clearly punished the outcome, not the play on the ice.

The play itself was a 2-minute cross checking penalty at most, but you see those little two-handed thrusts from defencemen about 50 times every game and they go unpunished.

The Sharks have been pretty fortunate in the playoffs as they were almost certainly heading out and now they've benefitted from another shan call in OT. Unfortunately I might have to get right behind them in the finals

I want to say few things about Flyers and Canes legend - Rod

Brind'Amour; in his first season he made a deep and interesting run in a postseason. Carolina has a good record against the best teams in the league, so it's not a surprise how far they've gone. Fast and persistent team with a character.

Great work. What the future holds for them?

What will Craig Berube show? He did a great job with Blues - from last to highest. Interesting team too, solid defence and deep roster.

I think #26 made it intentionally - too much force (even a vertical one), guy without a puck more than 2-3 seconds + blood.

Sharks are leaders if we talk about numbers: 5 players with 20 or 15 points, we forgot about Karlsson (not the one on the roof) and his activity during attacks and Burns.

Strong team.

Hmm, not sure Stasny did much wrong. The refs only made the call because they saw blood pouring from his helmet.

I agree the sharks are strong. The only real weakness they have is Martin Jones in net.

I want to remember this comedy gold moment too:

Boston Bruins players fight with fans.

They punished the wrong guy anyway.

Speaking about goaltenders and Boston - Tuukka Rask looks like a spiritual reincarnation of Tim Thomas right now:

Rask: goals against average 1.84, shutouts 2, save percentage 94%.

Thomas (2011): GAA 1.98, SO 4, SV 94%.

That's a big factor for Boston.
