An animation based on a Raymond Briggs story about an old couple attempting to survive a nuclear blast and the aftermath. I had seen this before when I was younger but watching again , really well done , emotional and some levity too , in and amongst the sadness. Makes you think My parents got me the graphic novel as a wean because I'd liked Father Christmas and Fungus the Bogeyman. When The Wind Blows is not a nice, comfy kid's book. That was an early reality check for a young lad.
rudi must stay Posted April 17 Posted April 17 Blue Beetle Just your usual exciting superhero film an easy watch and nice visually 8/10

rudi must stay Posted April 18 Posted April 18 The Killer Not the David Fincher film a low budget film from 2024. Terrible 5/10

Terrible 5/10 It's a remake of the 1989 Hong Kong film of the same name directed by John Woo. Woo also directed this one, so would have thought the budget would have been decent. Agree with you though that it's a 5/10. The original, although I haven't watched it, is seen as a classic of the action genre. Edited April 19 by PortyJambo
Gavman81 Posted April 19 Posted April 19 Lee Cronins The Mummy Enjoyable enough but overlong and basically just an Evil Dead film
rudi must stay Posted April 22 Posted April 22 The Killer (1990s one) Agree with the critics great film 8/10
rudi must stay Posted April 23 Posted April 23 Planet Of The Apes Heard bad things and it really is bad. It doesn't deserve even 5 1/10
rudi must stay Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Pilgrimage A solid historical drama starring Tom Holland 7/10
Heartofhearts Posted April 24 Posted April 24 Glenrothan - now on general release. Poor reviews, but I still wanted to see this Scottish film and support the Scottish film industry. Directed by Dundee's own Brian Cox and it has a stellar cast including Brian Cox, Alan Cumming,Shirley Henderson and Siobhan Redmond. The reviews were correct...it was poor!
rudi must stay Posted April 24 Posted April 24 California Scheming The most I've enjoyed a Scottish film since Beats 10/10
Samuel Camazzola Posted April 26 Posted April 26 Apex (Netflix) Charlie Theron on a solo trip in the Australian wilderness. Kayaking and climbing are quite suspenseful but things ramp up when she is no longer alone. There's nothing ground-breaking with the plot but tense scenes and length of the film make this a worthwhile watch. Theron and Taron Egerton are solid lead choices. 7/10
Tazio Posted April 26 Posted April 26 (edited) Dust Bunny. Very quirky film about a little girl that tries to hire her next door neighbour, played by Mads Mikkelson), to kill the monster that lives under her bed as she thinks she saw him kill a dragon. Very stylised, as if Wes Anderson made a horror film. A bit mad but I enjoyed it. 7/10. Edited April 26 by Tazio

If you’re looking for something that holds your attention without having to concentrate this is just the job.
Lovecraft Posted May 1 Posted May 1 (edited) Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die. Essentially Black Mirror the movie. Not the most subtle social commentary ever committed to film, but..... *** it - It does the job. Mainly dumbed down and aimed at brain dead morons that can't do nuance or satire; which it paradoxically self-fulfils by making it so blatant, considering the topics. Sam Rockwell with the Sam Rockwell turned up to 11, so it's obviously a minimum of a 7/10. .5 for Juno Temple and .5 for Haley Lu Richardson. 8/10 Edited May 1 by Lovecraft
rudi must stay Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Dune Part Two A boring film that takes itself too seriously 5/10
Ray Gin Posted May 3 Posted May 3 Crime 101 (Prime) Enjoyable heist thriller with a strong cast in Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, and Halle Berry. 8/10

rudi must stay Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Michael A very entertaining film. The music scenes are incredible worth watching for them 8/10
Madjambo21 Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Mortal Kombat 2 Went with my lad to see it. If you like the first one you will like this. Plenty witty remarks and cool fight scenes with gory outcomes. Kano steals most scenes he is in like the first movie. 7/10

He was good in this, plus Banshees of Inisherin, Saltburn, '71, Dunkirk, and Masters of the Air. Certainly not your conventional looking movie star, but the lad can act.
Tommy Brown Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Was called on here a wee while back. Freedom Writers (Netflix) Hilary Swank as a new teacher to an unruly class and wins them over in a totally unconventional manner. Great story based on real life events, actually made in 2007, which surprised me.
rudi must stay Posted May 9 Posted May 9 (edited) The Hunt (netflix) If you like horror films and a bit of gore I recommend this film. I think it's pretty good as horrors go decent script and acting and unpredictable 7/10 Edited May 9 by rudi must stay
rudi must stay Posted May 9 Posted May 9 The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard A better film than I expected, much better in fact 8/10
