Jibbers Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I was very disappointed with Nosferatu, at the IMAX. I was expecting more of a visual treat but no. The Herzog version, despite some hilarious overacting, is much better in my opinion. This version offered nothing new. Perhaps the story is now just too familiar. Quote

Madjambo21 Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Watched Evil dead 2013 again. Love it. Doesn't have the humour of the originals but is a proper gory horror movie. Good addition to the franchise. Groovy Quote
hughesie27 Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Plane - Netflix Gerard Butler plays an ex RAF pilot now flying commercial flights. Has to land on a small island after flying through a storm and the locals aren't friendly so he has to Gerard Butler them. Easy watch if you know what you are going into. A solid 5/10. Quote
rudi must stay Posted January 11 Posted January 11 Wallace And Gromit Vengeance Most Fowl (iPlayer) I thought this was absolutely brilliant. Really funny in moments with a good story. Highly recommend it 10/10 Quote
Ray Gin Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Triangle of Sadness (iPlayer) 7/10 Very quirky black comedy drama about wealthy guests on a luxury cruise who get stranded. Was saddened to read that the hot young leading actress died before the film's release. I thought she was great in it. Quote

When you watch the scene on the yacht where she is in a bikini you can see a long scar up her torso. She was in a car crash when she was younger and lost her spleen among other injuries which left her very susceptible to illness. Quote

AyrJambo Posted January 15 Posted January 15 The Bourne Identity - again!! Saw it in the TV listings thought I'll watch the start then watched it all the way through for about the 5th time Seminal and forced the Daniel Craig Bond reboot Quote

Elljay Posted January 15 Posted January 15 A Right Pain at Cineworld - a small, slight comedy drama about two cousins on a trip to Poland to reconnect with their Jewish-Polish heritage and commemorate their recently departed gran. Warmly funny scenes contrast with an almost wordless and harrowing visit to Auschwitz, gradually unveiling the pair’s deeper emotional hang-ups and pain. Brilliantly acted by the leads, especially Kieran Culkin. Recommended Quote

PortyJambo Posted January 17 Posted January 17 (edited) The G starring Dale Dickey, who has been in the likes of Breaking Bad and Justified, usually playing a hillbilly grandmother. It started off quite well, and was an interesting premise of elderly people being forcibly moved to care homes and their money being taken by a court appointed "guardian" (which apparently can and does happen in the US), but I felt it petered out a bit. I saw that Dickey is 63 in real life...she's had a hard paper round! 7/10 overall Edit - forgot to say it was on Film 4 Edited January 17 by PortyJambo Quote

Tazio Posted January 19 Posted January 19 Get Away on Sky Movies. Billed as a horror film but really more of a comedy horror that’s light on the horror. Nothing earth changing about it but perfectly pleasant way to spend some time. Story is a nice polite English middle class family visit an island in Sweden to have a holiday and try to see a historical play performed by the locals. It’s very clear something odd is going on when they get there despite being warned not to go by someone on the mainland. Quote

Ray Gin Posted January 20 Posted January 20 The Rover (Prime) 7/10 Guy Pearce and Robert Pattinson star in this dystopian western style drama set in the arse end of nowhere, Australia, after a global economic collapse. About a guy who sets out to find the crooks who stole his car after a robbery gone wrong. Quote
Elljay Posted January 20 Posted January 20 (edited) A Complete Unknown at Cineworld. Being old enough to be a Dylan fan and knowing something of the story I was a bit doubtful Timothee Chalamet could pull off both the acting/impersonation and the singing, but he makes a decent fist of both, even if does spend excessive time shirtless for his fans. Also credit is due to the writer and director as there is little attempt to sugarcoat Dylan’s egotistic, selfish and sometimes deliberately antagonistic behaviour 8/10. Gory but that doesn’t necessarily translate as horror. I usually like Nick Frost but this was poor. Yes, there was a twist but not exactly mind blowing. Quote

Shanks said no Posted January 22 Posted January 22 We live in time 7/10 Took the better half to see this at the Omni today. Definitely one for the ladies (20 women to each man in audience). Sad tale of a couple who have to deal with cancer. I thought it was ok and stayed awake for the duration, wife was disappointed as she thought it would be better. Quote
Ray Gin Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Alien Romulus 6/10 OK I guess, but pretty crappy characters and just a bit of unnecessary addition to the series really. Quote

Rousset1 Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Infinity Pool on Netflix. This is one of the worst films I have ever seen. The film appears to be an excuse to show one gratuitous scene after another, along with a plot full of huge holes. I'm not surprised that the director is a Cronenburg, who is obviously as pretentious as his father. Minus score. Quote
