The rise of skywalker

Better than expected . Quite emotional seeing Carrie Fisher post death , terrible CGI effects though with her .

all the cast outstanding really , Daisey Ridley in particular, the force is strong in her

Spoiler

I thought Darth Sidious had kicked the bucket ? How come he appeared ?

I was the same. I bought both empire and total film but got fed up with the relentless star wars articles. I haven't bought either in years.

Used to enjoy reading it but their reviews became quite chronic . I was going to try and Flogg them on eBay but was hardly worth the money and carry on

I loved the Marvel films until recently. I'm having trouble finding the words to describe this film. It's just a mess.

The only CGI parts with her are placing her in the scenes. Her actual performance is real, brought back from previously unused scenes in the other films. They haven't digitally recreated her face.

Yes I know what but I meant there are some scenes where one sees the back of her head . That’s not her

A few good men 8.5/10

old but still a classic. Jack Nicholson steals the show playing the baddie as putting Tom cruise in his place constantly

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness

Thought it was excellent. Enjoyed it from a visual point of view as well some scenes reminded of Thor Ragnarok which is legendary territory

Watched Das Boot for the first time last night. Must say I wished I had watched it way earlier in my life lol; I can see why it is praised the way it is.

Bowling for Columbine.

A very harrowing but interesting film, I can't understand why I haven't watched it before.

Probably the best film ever made about submarine warfare.

Oh for sure. I thought Hunt for Red October was best ever in that regard lol, but Das Boot overtakes it.

Carl Fredrickson

Thor Love and Thunder.

Not the usual Marvel kind of film. Leaned more towards a comedy. Kids loved it, I thought it was OK. Rating for me would be 6 kids rated it a 9.

Minions today.

I hate the summer cinema films as I struggle to find films I want to go to see. I appreciate it is school holidays but would like some alternative to family films all the time.

My 3 most recent cinema visits have been Lightyear (it was ok), Thor and the Minions today.

All the other films at Odeon I have already seen.

Jerry and Marge Go Large
(Paramount+ on Sky)
7/10
Based on the true story about long-married couple Jerry and Marge Selbee (played by Bryan Cranston and Annette Bening), who win the lottery and use the money to revive their small town. A light and easy watch, a long way from Walter White and Breaking Bad 🙂  There is a long Huffpost article abut the real story behind the film and it was way closer to fact than fiction.

One of my biggest fears is getting dementia when I get older so I found this very unsettling and a little bit terrifying. Hopkins is superb.

It is a superb and cleverly structured film . It really is another masterclass in acting from Anthony Hopkins

Spoiler

The hospital scene at the end. When he is crying for his mum is so moving .
