American Beauty

What a filmmaker Sam Mendes is. Very very interesting man (he has done so many great films that for me he gets the credit), this film is unique and absolutely correct in its character observations. Even more so than Road to Perdition, a favourite of mine but not by as much as it used to be

Bad Boys For Life

Very surprisingly, I found this stupid dumb film really, really enjoyable :)Much better than I expected it to be and Martin Lawrence gives a very likeable performance.

not as good as the older 1994 release but damn fine and the picture quality is sick. Unbelievable.

That is very true. Think I’ll pass on any more of this genre for a while

Got 1917 and Uncut Gems lined up for this week

Jumanji The Next Level

Enjoyable follow up with added Danny De Vito and Danny Glover. Was fearing a flat, by the numbers film but was well written, amusing and well crafted.

Knives out. 4/10. Couldn't get into it and Daniel Craig's accent was enough for me to turn it off half way through.

GUNS AKIMBO

Daniel Radcliffe if a off the wall action romp.

If you like Crank and Gamer this is a must for you.

Over the top violence with dark humour.

Its 100% madness.

Not a serious film.

More of a people will get shot in slow motion with bright colours and a banging soundtrack.

Mental seeing Harry Potter with guns bolted to his hands 🤷‍♂️

So did you watch Ant Man 2? I thought AntMan would be dull but they are one of the funnier ones.

Thor 2 is the worst of them all.

IM3 is fine.

I don't have Ant Man 2. Thor2 I didn't watch either, as I switched it off the last time I tried. But I suppose I better give that a go, anaw.

Such fun. :D

The Way Back

Ben Affleck drama about basketball and alcoholism. Well acted, well written and an honest film dealing with difficult topics.

Film 7/10

Ben Affleck 8.5/10 (really like him as an actor and director)

Cinderella Man

Proper boxing classic. Paul Giamatti on form, what a performance and Russell Crowe, faultless, he does the big scenes well as an actor. What a film, actually didn't want it to end. High quality

I think a lot of the Spiderman film rights are owned by Sony. Some of them might never be on Disney+ as Disney made the more recent films but I dont think they own the rights to the main character. It is a but confusing but someone might be able to clarify and explain it better.

Disney made huge amounts from merchandise from the Spriderman films. I think Disney got about 10% of box office but they still made a profit. The whole superhero scene is worth huge amounts if the films are done right. Disney  have made the Marvel films more popular than ever and wanted to include Spiderman so it was worth the possible risk to them. Sony now want to do their own Spiderman films and for a few weeks there was a fall out between Sony and Disney over the % split.  I think it was resolved and Disney can use Spiderman in films going forward as long as it isnt a Spiderman film. I think I have that right - I read about it a few months ago - but am happy for someone to correct me.

BoT - Spiderman Homecoming has just been added to NOW TV films. Saw it at the cinema and my son wants to watch it again.

Watched a few recently with the kids. Trying to introduce them to older films and we have watched:

Mrs Doubtfire

Cheaper by the Dozen

Who framed Roger Rabbit

Dr Doolittle (Eddie Murphy)

Some of the humour is as funny now as then but a few cultural references are dated. All still worth a watch.

Death Wish

2018 version with Bruce Willis. Eli Roth directs with some trademark black humour and gore in an otherwise by the numbers revenge flick.

I suppose it's to be expected that Roth would become more mainstream, however I miss the savage humour and gratuitous gore of the first two Hostel films, Cabin Fever and, to a lesser extent, The Green Inferno.

"The Road to Perdition " is incredible .  So melancholy and riveting and emotional.  One of my favourite lines in a film too "This is the life we chose, the life we lead. And there is only one guarantee: none of us will see Heaven."

I taped " The 10 Commandments" yesterday and watched it last night.  I had seen it before but fancied an old film to chill out to.  It really is  a big pile of tosh really !!  But incredibly entertaining.  Charlton Heston was so wooden in the part , he always was really,  Yul Bryner as Ramses was slightly better and i felt the great Anne Baxter was the at her slimey best as Nefertari . Of Course the special effects were stunning for its time and it must have been thrilling to watch it on the big screen then,   It falls into the films which are so bad they are actually good.  8 /10 !

Yes another great line.  Tom Hanks was superb in this playing against his usual pleasant every day Joe type of character.. and Jude Law was really sinister as the creepy assassin.  Ofcourse Paul Newman was outstanding too.

It's a real character Tom Hanks plays, plays it to a tee, ye Jude Law is brilliant. Yes you can see there the ability he had although his accent isn't the best. I like Stanley Tucci too, but I always do

Mission Impossible: Fallout

Must be the 5th time I've seen it and it's still as thrilling as the 1st time I watched it. I always thought Die Hard would never be beaten as the best action film of all time but this film is right up there (IMO).

Its decent but not amazing?

Lead Bursd has superb tits and worth watching for that alone. She doesn’t get them out unfortunately.
