Just back from watching Frozen 2 with the Mrs and wee man.

Both of them thought it was great.

Too many songs for me (really am an old grumpy these days lol)

Just finished The Irishman. Fantastic film, best thing I have watched on Netflix for years.

Watched it and thought it was ok.

Acting was great but the film dragged on for far too long.

Prefer Goodfellas and Casino

The King Of Comedy

Very interesting film. I recommend it for fans of the Joker. I'd put De Niro above Pheonix performance wise actually. De Niro plays it brilliant (those that think I'm nuts comparing the two then Google it)

Copied from my post on the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood thread, so it was Once Upon a Time in Hollywood

Just finished watching it.

Meh!

Could quite easily have never watched it and not missed out on anything.  I mean it was fine, I enjoyed it, but it's still meh!

Crown Vic.

One night for two LA beat cops. Thomas Jane plays the old worn down vet taking out the newbie on his first night.

Very different approach to the buddy cop  angle.

Perfect storm  for both characters in the same night, a bit similar to End Of Watch.

Cosmopolis

Odd film but at the same time very interesting visually with an interesting script. The word I'd say overrall is interesting as you can maybe tell but id imagine it really is hit and miss. For indie film fans it's on iPlayer

I had a couple of hours to kill and found this on Sky Movies, saw it was a German/Swiss film, so given Stendel is a hot topic I gave it a watch. I would strongly suggest you watch it without knowing what its about, it was far more fun that way, its the story of a 15 year old girl and the strap line is Mia's body is changing.

If you like weird films, you will like this.

Second is an unappreciated masterpiece

John Wayne's "The Searchers".  The cinema chain has a fortnightly Golden Years film on a Monday.

This one showed its age, and not in a good way.

Once upon a time in Hollywood

Love this film, classic Tarantino. The level of detail here (cinematography, nods to other films) is astonishing, really only a 10 is fitting

Burn...starring the guy from The Hunger Games, avoid at all cost, utter tripe.

The Irishman…thought I’d love it, as normally my type of movie and full of actors who I like too, but actually found myself getting a bit bored watching it🤷🏼‍♂️

Coach Carter

Spoiler

I didn't like the ending but Samuel L Jackson is excellent and it was better and deeper film than I expected considering its really a film for teenagers by MTV

6 Underground on Netflix. Possibly the most Michael Bay film ever made. Huge effects and gunfights with an outrageous car chase/gunfight taking up the first 20 minutes or so.

Dumb but really good fun with Ryan Reynolds basically playing himself again, but that’s ok with me.

Jumanji - the Next Level

Decent escapism film. IA few laughs and Karen Gillan is always worth watching. 7/10

Obviously knew what I was going to watch, but was a bit disappointed with it. It just isn’t as funny, as it’s just the same thing over and over again. I certainly wasn’t disappointed in Karen Gillan though, a fine looking woman...

Merry Christmas

THAT is the best Christmas present anyone will give me this year - thank you!. I agree it wasnt as good as the first (second) Jumanji film but I still chuckled along to it. I dont know if it has been said but Karen Gillan is well worth watching in it.

I know he's in vogue but Waititi annoys me, What we do in the shadows was irritating bollocks that too many friends have insisted was brilliant. It wasn't, it was a waste of Jemaine Clement.

Maybe one day I'll get over it and try another of his films, that sounds like a good place to start.

Star Wars. A bit meh for me. Too many ghostly/guest appearances. The weakest of the 3 recent ones IMO 5/10

I enjoyed it better than the last one.

Some good lightsabre fights to be fair.

Maybe 6.5/10 for me 👍

The Vanishing

Thriller starring Gerard Butler and Peter Mullen

Slow burner with at times very little dialogue. Nicely shot though throughout. Recommend it

I agree, best car chase to date, baddies get numerous dull ones, especially the biker. The Alfa Romeo deserved to be trashed on colour alone (lime green), but extremely satisfying watching it dump all over the German marks.

Knives Out

A fairly convoluted (as the best ones are) whodunnit. Pretty good. Daniel Craig's southern US accent was a bit weird to start with.

Shutter Island

great film , creepy and really quite unsettling but superb stuff from DiCaprio, Ben Kingsley, Mark Ruffalo.

nice twists in plot

I remember watching that for the first time a few years ago and thinking **** me that was good.

Then it said directed by Scorsese and I thought, yep.... that's why.

Cracking film boss

Joker

Flat out 10 out of 10.

Everything about it is masterful.

Bizarre, considering Todd Phillips has done shit up till now.  Either he didn't actually do this, or he has been held back from doing "real" work.

This is the next step into adult comic book stories.  Expect a lot more now.

decent British thriller about a group of assassins. My lad and thoroughly enjoyed it, it’s tongue in cheek with laugh out loud violence and oozes stereotypes but it was fun. Would have liked more of the “apprentice assassin” segment. On sky movies.

I’ve just seen Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and nothing prepares you for this. I cheered, I shouted, I fist-pumped the air, I cried, I stood and cheered. It’s absolutely everything you hoped it was going to be...

Actually, I didn't do any of those things. I did roll my eyes and cringe a lot though.
