Creepy Lurker

Mesrine: Killer Instinct - 6/10

Had heard some really good reviews about this, so thought that I'd give it a watch. Have to say that I was a bit disappointed, never struck me as any more than an average gangster film.

Unstoppable. Wasn't expecting much and didn't think they'd be able to sustain it for an hour and a half but you didn't really have to suspend your disbelief too much and I enjoyed it. Entertaining bubble gum for the brain. 7 out of 10.

Some others I've watched recently

Shrek forever after - Rather pedestrian final chapter, kids gave up 1/2 way through it 3/10

Tim Burtons Alice in Wonderland - Great film, well cast and kept the kids interested without overly scaring them 8/10

How to tame your dragon - Rather enjoyable kids flick 7/10

Guess that shows that me and the Missus need to watch more adult oriented films.

Exhibit A - quite possibly on of the most disturbing and frightening films I've seen. It's filmed from a camcorder, but that's the only way it could've been done - and when you watch it, you realise it could very well be a true story happening next door to you. I was drained after watching it.

4,3,2,1

Great acting throughout, no doubt the majority of the cast will go onto bigger things. But the way it was put together made it a bit of a struggle to watch, and some of the time I didn't have a clue what was going on.

The Town - 7/10 entertaining film and a good directorial debut by Mr Affleck

Same, I was just watching the theatrical version, would be keen to see the full length one before giving a score.

The Departed

Brilliant. throughougly unpleasant characters and some brilliant insults, as well as some big name actors on top form.

Starship Troopers 3: Marauder - 0/10

And I thought Starship Troopers 2 was bad. The low budget CGI is actually worse than the 1997 original. The story is rubbish and the social and political undertones are put across really poorly. This carcass has well and truly had the shit kicked out of it.

Worst film I've ever seen.

Sexton Hardcastle

I seen that advertised the other night.

It brought back painful memories of "Titanic 2". It was on one of the shabby bravo-ish channels.

Films that never make it to the cinema always seem to pan out that way.

The first Starship Troopers is a great film. Good production values, action and story. The other two were made on a fraction of the budget of the first one, and it really shows.

Watch the first, but you're not missing out on anything if you don't see the other two.

The Karate Kid

Haven't seen the first one so I can't compare the two. But I quite liked this film, not too bad a story line and quite good characters, particularly Jackie Chan's. Who, while being an expert at karate, is also a very messed up person indeed.

Never Let Me Go - 8/10 Thought provoking, exceptionally acted but ultimately bleak movie about life and love and how quickly you can lose both.

Went to see True Grit on Friday, thought it was excellent. The Big Lebow..., eh, Jeff Bridges, was fantastic, so was the girl playing the girl. Not just a remake.
