Where did you get them from?

Ahh. I've picked up a 3 wood and lob wedge from there before and had no issues.

Just bad luck, I guess!

You'll not need to change your name to "Mr 12 Clubs".

I assume you're not fussed for getting custom fitted if you were looking for clubs from Clubs 4 Cash? You'll get plenty decent deals for new clubs in various places. Even if you visit local pro shops, you may get lucky and get an ex demo set at a good price. They'll likely be a modern premium set too

That's quick!...low handicap time, 2 ball? 2:25 our time. Make hay, unfortunately it won't last.

1 ball with the Mrs helping push the electric trolly.

Played again tonight, number 3, 2 hours 25 but held up a lot. 2 under par scratch so that's pretty good

Ask about ex demo if you're not looking to spend cash on brand new clubs.

If you are keen on new ones, custom fitting doesn't (or shouldn't) cost more than an off the rack set. 👍

I agree, custom fitting is the way to go, it eliminates the "is it me or is it the clubs" conundrum, the games hard enough.

American Golf will do a basic custom fitting. You can hit different clubs and they can look at the numbers and advise you from there. Shafts length can be adjusted and you can have a shot of different club head types etc

There are more specialist fitters that will tailor everything from lie angle, aftermarket shafts and head combos and really dig down into deep detail for you. Always fancied the guy up at Hillend dont remember his company name.

American golf is free. Specialists charge a fee but will usually wave the fee if you buy the clubs from them.

I'd love a custom fitting... I'm 6'4 and play standard length second hand Ping G25, so I know for a fact they are inappropriate for me

I've heard nothing but good things about him and there are a few YouTube videos of his fitting process kicking about.

Absolute genuine guy.

Went there for a Driver fitting, to see if I could drag a few extra yards out of my wasting body. After trying a number of head and shaft combo's he admitted that what I had was as good as anything, which was rather disappointing for me but honest by him. Did not even charge me a fee.

The only thing with American golf fittings is that you can guarantee you will come away with a new driver, better or not.

I was fitted at Sggt for my driver and was really happy with them and the outcome. I was told by another pro that they tend to sell Accra shafts which may have a slight upcharge but no quibbles from me.

Pretty much consistent with the testimonials I've heard of his service.

His client base includes a few pros and he seems to have built up a good reputation.

We've had some amount of members join us for the year because of this very reason. A lot of local footballers and a certain larger than life Championship manager join too because they can't get playing. Our 1st year membership is only £299 so folk are lapping it up.

We've done nearly 60 new sign ups in total since restrictions were eased.

We're limited to members only as it is, guests can't play at all at the moment. Not that they'd have a hope in hell of getting a slot anyway.

Yeah I can imagine it's pretty grim times at some clubs.

We're now open to visitors and definitely reaping the financial benefits. Course has never been busier.

The things you have to do.

Having to sit up till Midnight to book a time for 14 days in advance.

What you will do to get a game, then play badly:rofl:

WE are allowing visitors only with a member at present, and have also had something like 30 new members in the last few weeks.

I said at a meeting prior to lockdown that this could be a great thing for some clubs, definitely helped us and looks like your new member take up has helped your club. The number of visitors and new members has shown just that. Under no illusions, we'll lose a lot next year as they go back to their other clubs but hopefully can still keep a good portion.

TBF we did lose a number of members due to travel (we have a good number of country and overseas members)and financial diffculties.

Think the numbers just about offset, in terms of income. Where we have lost is visitor income which was substantial, and currently is zero.

Just played Innerleithen today. We were the only people on the course was great. Next set of guys were teeing off just as we finished. Rained the entire time but most of the time just light drizzle, done 12 holes before calling it a day.

Captain claims a few of our members can't read or count. A few have been booking more than their allocation of 2 per week, Monday To Sunday. They are stating they never received the emails with this instruction. Captain claims he had to bite his lip a few times with members being economical with the truth. Our emailing system indicates if a recipient has opened the email or not...:yas:

Liam, I might join you at some point then if nobody else up for it, might even be able to get a 4 ball from here when it’s allowed.

Had this argument in my golf group.

The biggest complaint in golf is the amount time a game takes. I am unfortunately shielding and been unable to enjoy blitzing round a course in under 3 hrs (well below 3) in great weather.

Mate's were greeting for 4 balls, I explained it would totally knacker the speed of play. Although 3 balls could be the next step.

Got to use this as learning curve, structure time slots per group size, maybe. It get more people back into joining clubs.

The increased spacing between times has helped the flow. When 3balls are permitted, would increasing the gap from 10 to 12 minutes maintain the flow? Although this means less tee times are available, it definitely improves the overall experience.

There's a time and a place for 4balls. Unfortunately, it's not before 10am in the morning.

Dumbarnie have advertised that fourball bookings can be accepted as long as the group only includes players from a maximum of two households https://dumbarnielinks.com/standard-booking/

I think that since the courses re-opened, a lot of Hibees have been playing with their wife, sister and cousin. It's still a two ball though...

Watching the PGA Tour and Bryson's driving is on another level. He's bulked up by three stone and changed his driver to 5.5°! I'm sure putters are around 3°!😄 His driving distance average has went from around 290 to over 320.

Income to clubs = four balls.  No way any club would turn down the cash just cannot see it.  Taking tee times down to two balls, even three through the key months could cost certain clubs ten's of thousands in income.

Our gripe is we let visitors tee off in four balls from 9.00am and from mid June to mid September the time to play a round is just way too slow.  Playing behind two groups of four ball visitors who have no experience over the course just infruriates the members.

Arguement is if you want cheaper annual subs then we need income.  No problem with that arguement to an extent.  Allowing visitors to start so early is challenged and answer is that is what the customer wants and if the club says no they will go elsewhere.  I call keek on that one but it is used.

This all from a club pre-Covid that had over half million quid in the bank, probably a bit more to be honest.

Our times are devoured within the 1st minute of them opening up.   I got one this time for next week.    You need to attempt to book a specific time and it can go to someone else before you process the booking.    You then need to scramble back to the list to try to get another.    Generally you need to get the 1st one you try for or you're ****ed.     People seem to be playing more often than the maximum 2 games.    I think I will be contacting the club to suggest the booking be changed to a system where you click for a time with an hour window.    First 6 in get allocated a time within that hour.     The way it is right now,   you could be in ahead of someone and they get a time while you fail at getting a specific time.     I'll be lobbying for a maximum of 1 weekend booking as well.
