Dont be right off the tee. Then don’t be left second (or third) shot 😂

or 4th or 5th shot, depending on where your first few shots ended up

Just think it’s a poor hole.

I agree never a golf hole and not in keeping with the rest of the course. Wouldn’t take too much to improve it though and make it a good risk and reward hole, just the removal of some trees.

Agree there, its not a particularly fair hole.

A very small window in which to hit your tee shot, and if you cant hit it far enough you are faced with a blind lay up over the trees🤪

Needs opened up on the right hand side, to give the golfer a few more options.

Yes just a few sight lines towards the green from the tee and probably a larger landing area at the corner for those wanting to play the dogleg, make it a much better hole but still prone to throwing up some big number.

Yeah last time I played it I started on the first straight down the middle with the driver 3/4 wedge into 20 feet par.

2nd hole tried to play safe and smacked it in trees on the right hacked out side ways then left it short with my 3rd chip on 2 putts 6. Such a tight hole.

Then played the rest of the course ok.

2nd hole ruined my card though.

Thought I’d try my distances at full tilt at the range with Toptracer. 3 shots with each club all from the matt except my driver and 4i off the tee. Don’t have anything between the driver and 4i at the moment.

Although Bryson has been targeting huge distance gains and is one of the biggest hitters on tour, keep in mind he uses single length irons and his lofts are between 5 and 7 degrees stronger than those of the rack within the Cobra range. His 8 iron would be performing like a 6 iron to many.

I can’t see this Saudi League going ahead with any meaningful support now.

It appears support for the PGA tour massively out numbers the Saudi money backed tour.

I'd encourage everyone to get Elie played before their winter rate ends - what a course. And in immaculate condition too.

Is it still around £45? Looked at a game at the tail end of last year but headed to Gullane to play a couple there.

£47. Full course, no mats.

A pretty mundane start but once you’re over the road it’s superb. Especially the stretch from 5-13.

12 & 13 were absolute *******s when we played it, wind coming in off the bay.

Good price. I looked Crail too as they were on a rotation of their courses over the winter.

Dumbarnie will be looking to fill their tee times with full rates going forward. Scottish and Fife rates are only available within a three week window.

Kilmarnock Barassie for me tomorrow, never played it before.

Played it once and I loved it. In the summer you had to be straight. Might be more forgiving in the winter

Some wind at The Players, though it's like a normal day in Scotland.

The 17th already claiming victims as it gusts 30mph into them

Holed my second shot on the par 4 16th today. A 30 yard pitch. Couple of feet short of the hole. Checked up and in.

Only my 3rd ever eagle!!!

Great feeling, especially if you get to watch it go in from distance.

Think golf courses are really going to awaken over the next week as we get some good doses of sun after all this rain.

Played them all although Mar Hall only the once. Nice views down by the river some good holes if I remember rightly , prone to be a bit heavy if the weather is wet.

Greenburn is pretty good a couple of weak holes, and pretty exposed if the weather is bad.

Harburn I like good solid parkland course usually in decent nick.

Enjoy

Harburn is ok after a drought...Highest point of the course is the same height as Arthur Seat allegedly, I bet you'll sleep after learning that...eh ? :brows:

Harburn aint hilly, it's the fact this old boy (Bob) mentions the Arthur seat height on the tee we're standing on every ***kin year...maybe I should be a wee bit more appreciative after been given an invite year-upon-year. As soon as the phone call invite happens, I ask, how's Bob keeping...in jest...

Never played Mar Hall, but played the other two I have played plenty.

Greenburn is quite a bleak course, moorland and pure bitch in the wind.

Quite a short course, but a course I always enjoy. 5th is a toughie, 12th 460y par 4 is way beyond me.

Harburn is a good course, not long either. Always in good condition.

Not taxing on the legs, 6th hole is only climb and it is mnot much (certainly not a Lothianburn). You will enjoy it.

Great food.

Glorious day at Archerfield yesterday, Dirleton in magnificent condition for this time of year. Hope the weather holds up for Gleneagles and the Old Course next week. 😎

Is it just not prep for the season mode so greens will be getting all the treatment necessary for that at the moment?

Our greens are just being prepared with stuff this week and we are next door so would expect them to be similar condition to ours?  I have waited to play Dumbarnie until around late May into June for that reason.  Understand you can go early for less dough but at what cost, poorer quality course conditions?  Late March is just about winter😄👍
