First medal of the year today - 78 less 4, 74 round Gullane No1 - -

I had a 7 on the 6th (easy par 4) taking three to get out a bunker -

3 putted 4 times and took 4 from the side of the 12th green -

Couple really good birdies including a 2 and 7 or 8 tap ins for par.   Nearly drove the 340 18th hole as well... so

Bring on the season!

Meant to say - the course was in great condition, greens were brilliant and I'm a lucky bugger playing golf at this time of year!

Did you putt with the flag in or need to take any knee-height drops?

I’ve actually not even thought about next season, not played since last competition of last season. Really need to get back into it and be prepared for the start of the season, rather than my usual slow start. Might actually look at Opens this week and make my plans for the season.

Holed one massive putt with the flag in.. I was so relaxed, it was like a practice round.. no pressure

Im in the same boat, my last game of golf was around the start of October, and I went to the driving range in November . Off work next week really need to get out, before we know it the season will be in full swing.

I think everyone will experience a putt clipping the pin and not dropping which will result in the mindset going back to having it attended/being taken out.

I very rarely watch pro golf on tv.

Has there been much putting with the pin in?

are we going to see pin being left in for those horrible swinging down-hillers?

The PGA Tour has resumed in Hawaii this week. Bryson De Chambeau has been putting with the flag in.

81 less 17 for a net 64 today. Would have been staring at a 1.2 stroke cut as well but our winter handicaps don't carry forward. Was full course as well so I'm a bit gutted it doesn't really count for much.

I'd be happy to arrange it if we had enough numbers. I'm in Fife but happy to sort out an Edinburgh course.

I'm sure we'd get a few numbers. It's hard getting a date sorted between guys having medals, courses available and even working weekends etc, but something will happen.

A starting point would definitely be a list of those who are up for it and we could work from there. I'm happy missing a medal to play...I'd make sure it was after the football season too.

And I am knackered -

My golf is close but also so far away... Hitting the ball well but misjudging all distances with wedges causing me to take 3 from within 100 yards a lot...... I know that is down to a lack of playing / practising but it is still frustrating.

My long game is good though, and I'm hitting ball off the tee as well as I can, nearly drove a couple of Par 4s that are not usually in range so was very happy with this... It really makes a huge difference when I'm hitting  wedge and my playing partner has a wood in their hands.... Looking forward to the season and think i can get back to 3 again (think i'm 3.9 just now) and would love to actually win something this year!

Second winter medal today, followed up an excellent 64 with a brutal 74.

It actually wasn't all that bad. Didn't quite drive as well as last weekend but my putting let me down, was far too aggressive with it.

I played up at the Kittocks yesterday, bloody windy.

What a great course though, really enjoyed it.

Desperate for more, looking at their seniors open on Tues March 12th.

I played it on Saturday. Greens were superb as usual and it got a bit blowy then too!

I finally decided to order it yesterday, but found a Ben Sayers one at £65

https://www.clarkesgolf.co.uk/ben-sayers-xf-laser-rangefinder.html

Played in howling gale at Eyemouth, honestly thought I was in danger of getting blown off the cliff at the 7th, the trolley kept getting blown over.

But the rangefinder worked fine, only used it a few times as I couldn't keep my hand steady enough in ****ing wind

Played yesterday at pumpherston, where we had 18 winter Greens.

The rangefinder worked fine and gave me correct yardages

so for £65, would definitely recommend.

I've heard brilliant things about Newmachar and been desperate to play it...it's just the drive that puts me off heading up. I've heard it's a really tough course though.

Panmure has been on the hitlist for a while.

Strathmore is probably my only chance of actually competing

Newmacher is tremendous. Very highly recommended even though it's a bit of a drive

Apologies for the light relief - but I actually thought this was quite funny. Not sure why they have done it - think Fleetwood is a bit of a joke. But a good laugh anyway - more laughs in four minutes than four hours of Mrs Brown's Boys anyway

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/golf/46925470

The European Tour does stuff like this each year and the videos go on throughout the season. If you've not seen it, look out the one with Rory in the car with Stenson and Poulter where he calls Thomas Bjorn ahead of the Ryder Cup. Bjorn does a response video too which is good.

The Tour also does a lot of challenges including players which are entertaining (14 club challenge, night speed golf relay challenge etc).

I don't really get your meaning regarding Fleetwood.

It's good when it gets to the stage of someone smashing a putter, thinning a wedge or dollying a driver/3 wood.

Broomieknowe, Ratho, Haddington planned.

3rd entry in our winter comp, last 2 rounds have been poor. So inconsistent, from hole to hole.

64/73/74 so far from the 3.

It's best 4 scores wins. Won't be anywhere near with those 3.
