Walter Kidd

In My Life - Beatles followed by God Save the Queen.

Unsure why, always liked God Save the Queen.

Can't beat a rousing hymn. I can imagine being lowered into the earth with everyone atop caterwauling "All things bright and beautiful". The classic line ' the purple headed mountains' would certainly make me smile, or would that be the muscular contractions associated with decomposition?

Dancing on the Ceiling - Lionel Ritchie.

I'm not joking.

Living on the Ceiling - Blancmange

Neither am I.

A rousing rendition of the national anthem including the 6th verse.

1. God save our gracious Queen

Long live our noble Queen

God save the Queen

Send her victorious

Happy and glorious

Long to reign over us

God save the Queen

2. O Lord our God arise

Scatter her enemies

And make them fall

Confound their politics

Frustrate their knavish tricks

On Thee our hopes we fix

God save us all

3. Thy choicest gifts in store

On her be pleased to pour

Long may she reign

May she defend our laws

And ever give us cause

To sing with heart and voice

God save the Queen

4. Not in this land alone

But be God's mercies known

From shore to shore

Lord make the nations see

That men should brothers be

And form one family

The wide world over

5. From every latent foe

From the assassins blow

God save the Queen

O'er her thine arm extend

For Britain's sake defend

Our mother, prince, and friend

God save the Queen

6. Lord grant that Marshal Wade

May by thy mighty aid

Victory bring

May he sedition hush

And like a torrent rush

Rebellious Scots to crush

God save the Queen

I P Knightley

I suspect that Elton John will trot out an elegant rendition of Candle in the Wind for me.

I'd rather he didn't, though. My preferences (in my will) are:

In My Life (second shout for that one - means an awful lot to me, though)

Song is Over - The Who

There's a third but I don't for the moment remember it.

Dancing on the Ceiling - Lionel Ritchie.

I'm not joking.

I would have gone for All Night Long by King Lione Ritchie but Dancing on the Ceiling is a work of genius also.

Stupid Sexy Flanders

My two favourite songs: "Fix You" by Coldplay and "Champagne Supernova" by Oasis. Might also chuck in "I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor" if there's time.

JT's & Irons

I fought the law so everyone goes a bit mental

Then

Last Years Man by Leonard Cohen so everyone greets.

I don't want anyone wearing purple or celebrating my life or all that rubbish at my funeral. I want proper black and weeping and wailing.

I want to be chucked on a big bonfire like Darth Vader at the end of Return of the Jedi.

With Lionel Ritchie playing.

Great tune but a bit long is it not? I'd go with either "love in a hollow tree" by Cud or "hit the north" by the Fall. Just because they are quality tunes.

Or fired out of a cannon. Nobody will do it though. Or even set on fire and then fired out of a cannon. That would be ace. With AC/DC playing for those about to rock.

Radio5 Live had a piece on this yesterday and some woman phoned in to say this song was played at her fathers funeral. :20:

The weirdest I've ever heard was 'Is This the way to Amarillo' at my mates dads funeral. Very , very strange to see people singing this.

Drew Busby !

It's a toss up between 'Diso Inferno' by The Trammps or 'Light My Fire' by The Doors.

Either way should produce a few wry grins and laughs amongst the assembled and put a lid on the sobbing !

That is indeed a quality tune.

I'm currently thinking I'd like to go out defiantly with Little Feat's Rocket In My Pocket blaring.
