John I would agree to all of that but what would also include 7. is a great motivating players who can make players with potential actully play what they can do (what Elliot needs.) 8. Is a great fan of youth and knows how to intergrate them into the full team. 9. Can get on well with Romanov (if we want the manager to stay.) We blew it with George Burley. No other Scot springs to mind at present apart from Sir Alex Ferguson but well we missed the boat there a very long time ago. Any successful manager should try to have a decent relationship with the country's press. They're going to print stories about his team so any influence he has can only be beneficial. Taking them on, or being rude to them, would do him no favours at all. Quite the reverse. 2. Not "giving a feck" about your opponents is a recipe for disaster. The best managers respect their adversaries, know them inside out and use their knowledge to defeat them. It's only fans who "don't give a feck" although by the number of Hibs related posts and references on here, most posters care an awful lot about them!! 3. Why must the manager be an arrogant *******? Surely someone who is approachable and has a bit of humility and class would better representative for his team and his fans? George Burley was potentially the most successful manager Tynecastle had ever seen and he's not an arrogant *******. Or would Graeme Souness, Neil Lennon and John Collins be prefered to fit your rather cliche'd stereotype? 4. Are you really saying that a Hearts manager shouldn't care about his team's supporters? Or are you only referring to Kickback posters? If it's the former, you're mad. If it's the latter, you'll get your wish. No manager in his right mind would pay attention to the minority of supporters who post on internet forums, who by the very nature of their pastime, generally hold the most extreme views. Of course, your after-thought at point 6 would go a long way to help supporters tolerate your hypothetical manager's entirely obnoxious demeanor but if he didn't get success, he'd quickly be history.
