How long has it been since we last went a game without getting a yellow card?

Plus the Lithuanians were getting fouls rather than being accused of diving.

Have the refs been told to calm down for a week?

What?s going on at the SFA?

I was thinking that myself yesterday.

One penalty and one red card, neither was against us.

The Sultana coverage yesterday also kept flashing to the three referee supervisors sitting together in the main stand at the vermin / DU game, all taking notes.

It seems the SFA are actually taking on board what we've been talking about.

Richmond was pretty keen to keep his cards in his pocket. He could have sent off the Gretna boy at the penalty (clear goalscoring opportunity) but possibly used a bit of common sense.

Likewise later on when Stewart and a Gretna player got involved with each other. He could have booked each, but decided to have a quick word with each without making a big deal of it.

I hate to say it but Richmond's performance yesterday was probably the best from a whistler all season. The only contentious point was the Miko penalty incident. The crowd seem to understand that it is a brave or foolhardy ref who ever going to give a decision of that magnitude in Miko's favour. We took the decision with usual chants of SFA etc etc

I was wondering if the Gretna game was the only time this season when an opposing player has been sent packing?

Miko still got his now weekly stonewaller denied again though...

Yes but apart from that I thought the Ref had a good game and Richmond hasn't been all that good for us in previous games.

I'd agree - a good reffing performance.

There were a couple of possibly dodgy offside decisions courtesy of the assistants, and I'd need to see the highlights to comment on Miko's weekly penalty claim.

I may be wrong, but I think this might very well be the first time this season that the officials have left the field without a chorus of boos ringing in their ears.

Stonewaller from my seat, and for that reason there is no chance that any of the TV media will show this in their highlights!

Credit where credit is due, I thought he was excellent. He may have got a few decisions wrong, but I have never had a problem with that. It is when refs make decisions that are clearly wrong and clearly favour one team rather than the other that I get really hacked off.

There have been several games we have won this season where I was seething at the end of the game because of the referee's perfomance - not just games we have lost. I always reckon that if your team has won and you are still raging about the ref, then it is unlikely to be because you have maroon-tinted glasses on! Games like the 4-2 win aginst Falkirk and even the 1-0 wins against Hibs and Aberdeen. They were close because the ref kept them in it.

Meaningless game against meaningless opponents, or is that too paranoid for some?

Dougie MacDonald at Darkheid this weekend might prove an interesting contrast.

I said it before the match that Richmond was pretty good in the last game and he was on Saturday also. The main difference is he tried to let the game move, he kept the cards in his pocket and by not making a rod for his own back early on let the game go.

I actually thought Elliot was lucky not to get booked for his usual lunge in. As for the Gretna lad getting sent off I suppose he had no choice.

Hearts discipline was generally good again too which always helps!

I agree the ref had a good game. I particularly thought he refereed the situation where John Paul Kissock tried to place the ball, repeatedly, without it rolling out of the corner, well. Boy did he get some stick from our fans and it was funny to see him frustratingly duff the subsequent kick. However on the next corner Richmond kept his back to the Gretna player to take the pressure off him. (Well done).

However I sometimes wonder why a ref blows for a foul when Stevie Banks has the ball in his hands after a corner, but doesn't blow immediately when there is ONLY a 50:50 chance of an advantage at a tackle?
