The New Yorker at Meadowbank is pretty decent.

Dianes is a dive IMO!

The New Yorker has a room down the bottom that they use especially for parties with snooker and pool tables. Handy for the smokers as you can just open the fire door. They do some good tucker as well. It's the best one by miles.

I agree with the above posts - the New yorker is top class. good tables, good food/beer and good staff.

just as a matter of interest, when was the last time you were in?

have you any idea the amount of work diane has put in to rid the place of crap punters?

its not expensive to drink there as she doesn't like ripping people off

the food is really decent as far as pubs go, wee malcy is an excellent chef

i've worked there for years and it really rips my knitting when people take the pish out of places they are not, or haven't even really ben regulars in

20p for a game of pool, about ?2 a pint and me working there on a friday!

can't be as bad as some make out!

Fair enough .... the last time I went was last year.

Don't really have to be a regular though to know if a place is ***** :)

Just my opinion like, it may have changed since the last time I was in!

I went into Dianes at the end of last year and it's still pretty grotty and I usually go to Marcos which is not exactly a palace but it is 10 times better. The Angle is the best I've been to, plus it has the cosmic room :rock2:, though the prices have always been quite steep.

Back in the day Diane's was as rough as Desperate Dan's chin.

I knew a boy who lost half his ear in there.

Has it changed much ?

Megabowl at Fountainpark has pool tables as well, you can also bowl, obviously. ;)

There is a place down at Great Junction Street called the Vaults, It was quite good for pool, but i am not sure if its still open.

It is also in Leith

i just done something similar and the angle club in morningside was ideal.

You can book the tables and everybody has to pay a day membership ?1 approx.

Perfect for heading into town after and they also sell food if it is needed.

fast eddies was rough as have shaved bollocks, but dianes has never been a den of trouble.

has its scuffles like any other place serving drink, but diane has worked her arse off.

in the years that i've been there i have known of ANYONE to have lost an ear or any other part of their anatomy there...

and i've been there a long, long time!

edited to add that fast eddie was the name of dianes before diane took over, for anyone who didn't know that
