don't know if i'm getting ahead of myself just now , but , does anyone know if there is any pictures of the 1896 cup final when we beat h**s in edinburgh.

if one was available and subsequently coloured in , it would make an excellent screen saver

Great stuff, I made an attempt to do this years ago when I first got a basic adobe photo editor package but got nowhere, and by co-incidence it was this same pic plus one other from the '56 final that I tried to do!

If I was to be picky though, I think you'd be closer to the real thing with bare earth in front of the goalline instead of light green grass!!!!

how do you do it id like to try it myself. ?

if you don't already have a good editor for photos, GIMP is very good...a free version of photoshop. just google it.

1. import your picture.

2. create a new layer. make one for every new piece...e.g. strip, skin, hair etc.

3. set the new layer to colour (any questions about that just ask)

4.colour it in...e.g. strip... use a bright maroon

5. go to the colour menu and select "colourise"

6. play about with the sliders until you get something you like.

7.do the next layer

Tips: use bright colours and then darken them with colourise.

Use a light brown for skin and then change to a good skin tone with colourise

If you have any questions at all just ask.

JAYEL, the picture i am doing you isn't very easy because of the quality, but that makes it more interesting to do. I am about half way through doing the players just now, so hopefully you'll see it up here soon.

Mr Romanov Saviour of HMFC

They are brilliant mate.

Could you do something similar to this picture, sort of like the 'together' one?

Just want the crowd and background grey and Mickey and the cup coloured?

heres my attempt. this is harder than you would think, takes ages to do all the selections. i prob went a bit too bold with the colours too, i might go back and edit if i can be bothered later

Loving your work Scotland.

I really like your attempt though Ally. The colour brings it to life but at the same time I really like how bold you have made it. It keeps the classic feel about it for some reason. It has an arty vintage look to it.

Agree with you alan, Scotland's work looks very realistic but I really like Ally's as well because it remind me of the type of retro watercolour you'd get in a Hearts boozer from bygone days.

Keep up the good work guys :)

Great work guys.... maybe the mods or whatever they're called can create a special category where all this work can go, and be easily found
