Despite the health risks (my job makes me very well aware of these), it has turned me from a non-smoker before the smoking ban into a very occasional smoker now. This is because virtually every one of my close friends I socialise over a beer with enjoy a ciggie. I simply got bored spending 10 minutes at a time, 3 or 4 times every night out, sitting in a bar on my own while they carried on the chat and /or banter outside. buca junior Posted February 5, 2008 Author Share Posted February 5, 2008 Actually your response was one of the points I was hoping for from people that were not smokers before the ban but have now picked up a casual habit from it. Obviously different seasons and venues can dictate your behaviour, but take Liquid Rooms in Ediburgh for example. They have utilised an area outside the back of the main club and covered it and set up heaters, and it attracts lots of smokers, who can spend most of their night out there. This can sometimes result (as in your case) in encouraging people to start casually smoking if they are out with their mates who do smoke. Has been much larger and faster than it would have been annoying people on the streets.
