I know boxing is a sport which is in many instances incomparable with football, physical contact, but when I read about the suicide of nevada referee Tony Gibson a couple of weeks ago and then read this article it just made me think about the pressure put upon 'men in the middle' not only in a boxing ring but also on the field of play.

I know boxing is a sport where the essentials are to hit and not be hit and so the boxing ref has an awful lot more pressure riding on his decision to stop or fight on, compared to a football ref.

But still when you read the article and think about what kind of pressure these officials can be under, regardless of the sport, it did make me ponder yes it was a crap decision on the part of the ref, but, I wasnt on the spot in his shoes with the weight of the paying public and everything potentially after the event on his shoulders at the time.

Not sure if this was a terrace or shed thread but any opinions on the matter at hand?
