Clerry Jambo
http://stats.football365.com/results.html Have a look at the attendances today - 6 thousand people at Rugby Park and Pittodrie!! I personally always look forward and get very nervy when the Scottish Cup comes around considering its only 1 of 2 trophies that anyone outside the Old Form has a chance of winning. Are there outside factors - too many games, bad time of year ( tell me about it!! ) bla bla..... Quite sad really, are the fans Voting with their plates!!!!!!!!!!! hahaha

Maybe its the cash factor, who knows? But it`s sad really. I remember fondly the times 15-20 years ago when, as you say Clerry, Scottish Cup day was a nervy big day. I think alot of fans only get excited now if their team reaches the semis.
benny
Tv and prices.Hibs are charging ?26 tomorrow.Madness that both teams could not agree a cheaper price.Years ago the cup games were part of your season ticket,no top ups.Ever since they were done away crowds have declined as well. Aberdeen only got 6000 because they are ***** though.
The Merse
Would be alot better if all the games were played at the same time. Cancellations and games being spread over the whole weekend take away from the "magic" of the cup, IMO.

Draw straight after the game

Good point mate - I remember when ALL the games where played at the same time 3pm on a Saturday and everyone was itching to hear the other scores come over the radio or tannoy. To be fair the FA Cup appears to have lost its magic aswell more especially for the Premier league sides........ Money has in a strange way killed the magic of both Cups:sad:
Sharpie
Sometimes I wonder if it sonly old farts like me that are bothered by the commercialisation of the Cups, Tennents Sxcottish Cup doesn't seem the same to me as the old Scottish Cup. Like others have said the varied start times are also a bit of a downer. Cup games are just another game now.

It's actually back to just the Scottish FA Cup as the Tennents deal ran out and we've been unable to find a new sponsor for it.
rossmaroon
I was at Love St today for St Mirren v Dundee Utd and the official crowd was announced as 3,900. However, this was obviously not true as United had at least 1500 with them. My estimate was that the crowd was around 5,500 but St Mirren were holding back on the split with the other team. Somebody should tell Football365 (see link) - they're giving Tennents free advertising.

Sheesh, you want to hear the degree to which it's invaded the FA Cup Bob Gary Lineker and his colleagues have to include the sponsors name in every single reference to it - as in "Todays action from the FA cup .............sponsored by Eon...........will be coming right up "Lauro.........who do you fancy for the Cup..........sponsored by Eon"
bigwull22
interest always fades in scottish football when we dont provide a threat to the bigot bros, simple as that
barcajambo
I think scottish football in total is losing its touch and has'nt been so special this year. But maybe thats because we havent be getting the results or the performances this season. My only highlight this year is beating celtic 2-0 at parkhead. Even the derby was rubbish but was 3 points.
