Am I alone in being irked by those who pronounce this famous song as if the last word began with a "z".

 

The English and the Americans don't seem to know any better, but what is Cllr. Steve Cardownie's excuse? ( B.B.C. Scottish news, during an item on Edinburgh's Hogmanay).

Not worth getting upset about IMO. Just be glad a little part of our culture has spread so far around the world.

You're right, of course, but why do it?

 

"Syne" is from the same derivation as the word since. I'm sure they don't say "zince".
