kjc2006
Davie Moyes thinks that the EPL should shutdown during the African cup of nations stating that its unfair that they cant play their strongest team when some of their players are away playing for their country. Is he for real? He knew when he signed players like Yakubu that they'd be playing in for their country at this time of year.

If he had no Africans and was playing Man Utd at Goodison who had 6 away and the game was off til they got back he'd be going off his rocker. Just because the situation would suit him. The Merse
It is a joke that the tournament is played during the season.

Just because the situation would suit him. Consider, though, the fans that have to watch reserves play in place of players like Essien and Yakubu for the month. They spend a lot of money to go and see the best the Premiership has to offer, and that shortchanges them a little. I can see Moyes' point. JamboGraham
FIFA should tell them where to stick their tournament and order it to be played every four years in the same rotation as the European championships...total farce...football is truly a world game and I am sure that the major (economic) powers will start to push for this. interista
Why should the Africans change for the Europeans?????? Because the European clubs are paying these players' inflated salaries. The Africans should be ordered to reschedule their tournament.
Erik
Because the European clubs are paying these players' inflated salaries. The Africans should be ordered to reschedule their tournament. Alternatively, European clubs should simply bear in mind the implications of signing players who are likely to partake in such tournaments before making a commitment to signing them. It couldnt exactly have coem as a surprise should it..... African Cup of Nations goes ahead mid season. Deal with it. If you dont want to lose players during this tournament - then dont sign players that are likely to be involved. Simple.

Will never happen as they would be daft to play in the summer with temperatures in excess of 120deg in some places.
