Shareholders meeting with Pedro on Thursday - final day of transfer window!

Had to laugh at the wee hopefull comment made in our calling notice for Thursdays dinner;

Please note the meeting will commence fifteen minutes earlier than usual at 7 00 pm. In a change to the usual running order, our guests David Southern and Pedro Lopez from Heart of Midlothian FC will speak before the meal is served. This will allow David and Pedro to leave early in the event they are required to be involved in any transfer activity on the final day of the transfer window.

Transfer activity? WTF is that?

Why is it that teams wait till the last day? Is it because the players won't sign till they see all their options:confused:

Its like at school, you never wanted to be last picked.

Pedro and david will nip off and view a line up of players that havent been picked by any one yet.

I think it is a "polite" request of those attending not to raise points with regard to the lack of new players arriving within the window, by covering it with a caveat indicating the guests may have to leave early to deal with said transfers which have not as yet happened.

"David and Pedro will leave before anyone starts asking them 'awkward' questions on such matters as new players, or even, incredibly, a manager."

Know your place, Prolls.

How many table are needed for Hearts shareholders these days anyway? Didn't think there were a lot left.

Fingers crossed it's not about transfers in and more about transfers OUT.

Appoint a manager, freshen up the squad with the U-19's and let the manager decide what positions he need to strengthen in the summer. I DON'T want signings made in January to placate the fans.

The reason why its left until the last day, is that the buying club are trying to get the selling club to release the player for the lowest possible cost, and if only one team want that player then he has a very short time to make a decision on going or staying.

As a last minute deal is the only option he has, he well move for a lesser salary than one he could have got at the start of a window, when there may be a higher price for him as the selling club think other buyers may come along so keep the price high.

So basically it's just about trying to squeeze every single penny out of the deal.

Call me a cynic but as they are having this meeting prior to the window closing then when little or nothing happens within the window then they don't have to explain to the share holders why.

If they were to have the meeting on Friday 1st then they may possibly be in for a pretty hard time from some very annoyed supporters.

While I can appreciate the cynicism aimed at the statement, surely it would be remiss of DS & PL to not be available at an important time?

Begs the question though, why have the meeting on the last day of the transfer window?

Exactly, that is what I was trying to say in my previous post, without sounding too cynical. They know exactly what the shareholders are going to ask, so have pre-empted this by telling them (HMSA) the guests may have to leave early to deal with any last minute transfers, hence all problem questions are dispensed with before even being asked.

Not that HMSA would ask such questions mind you, recent exposure on JKB revealed that they, like the other groups, are merely perceived by most on here as a bunch of braindeads anyway.

Whilst we get punted out the cup meantime....
