My first car was a red '94 Ford Fiesta. It was a 1.1 and I used to have to drop a gear to overtake a tractor :( Never had my hands out my pocket with it either, always something needing done to it :(

My first car was a J Reg Seat Ibiza (System Porsche), paid too much for it from Arnie Clark but got Free Insurance for my first year, so well worth it...

3 door, Red, F Reg, Austin Metro City X, was complete rust bucket but I loved it and took me over a year to part with it after it was knackered, cost me ?700 and probably twice as much to fix it but it was my first taste of freedom, used to go exploring places you could never get to on the 1 bus.

Oh to be 19 again!

A VW golf 1984 1300 cl 5 door navy blue bought for ?1800 at the royal mile motor company when it was in the royal mile. It was the mk2 model but it only had 4 gears which did annoy me sometimes but a brilliant car that lasted me 7 years without much trouble at all !

Today I ordered a brand new Suzuki Swift 1.3 GL - won't get it till the 1st of September.

Never in a million years thought my first car would be a new one (At 33 I'm a latecomer to this driving malarkey)

It was bought for me and I realise I'm VERY lucky.

Of course even though it's new I might have nothing but bother with it - you need a bit of luck with every car I guess.

Hope not!

I had a 1980 4 door Mk2 Ford Escort 1.3L, bought it for ?500 in 1989, it was a heap of dog poo. Two days after I bought it I was out and about and the passenger side leaf spring broke on me. I the crashed it in to a drain pipe giong up a narrow street, ripped the rear arch open to find out it had been filled with paper mache. Sold it to the scrappy for about ?100.

I'm only 19, so needed something cheap.

Got myself a MK4 Fiesta back in March. Needed a touch of welding for the MOT, but apart from that, the engine is sound. Does the job.
