Dont know if this has been posted before but seeing as im ex forces this is something I feel strongly about. The lack of help that our guys get on returning from a war zone with injuries is crap, we need a dedicated hospital for the military!

Not just another petition.

There but for the grace of God go I.

Please help, and if you have a minute to spare send this on.

Trust the Government to put a time limit on it!

This has been passed on from Major Tony Hibbert MC. The Brigade Major at Arnhem in 1944

Just some background, 2 Para alone have on this tour sent back over 50

casualties to the UK and from one who has been to Selly Oak I know that

many cannot be accommodated so when all of the casualties from other

battle groups are added to the figure, how is ONE ward in an NHS

hospital going to cope? It cannot cope, the individual troops are sent

home to recover relying on NHS visiting services which themselves are

over committed. A lot more than 5000 names are needed for this petition

and quite cynically, Downing Street has put a time limit of one month

for this to be achieved.

Do what you can. Please copy the link below to confirm your signature on

the petition at the bottom of this email'

> http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/Wounded/ the petition was created by

Denzil Connick and reads:

'We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Create a dedicated

Military & Veterans Hospital within the UK.

Not having a go here, I just don't get why having a specific military hospital is necessary- happy to be educated why though.Do military personnel not come from different parts from around the UK? Personally speaking, I'm sure if I was injured in a warzone and had to be returned to the UK for treatment I'd rather be in hospital somewhere that family and friends could easily visit me, rather than in a hospital in Dorset (for example, or wherever they'd put it). I'm sure there are injuries (both physical and mental) that would need the attention of experts experienced in dealing with war-zone related injuries, but is there not existing provisions in place for that to happen anyway?

As a side note, at what age can you become a resident at the Royal Hospital Chelsea? I actually thought this already served the purpose...
