Forgotten players

Going through some old programmes and looking through the squad list at the time. It's amazing some of the players you forget about, most likely due to the squad size in recent years.

Got me to wondering what happened to a few of them. Most of the youth prospects that never quite made it. For every Craig Gordon there was a...

Graham Weir - never forget the goals but the Clum of his day.

Allan McManus - strange to say now but he was the poor man's Paul Ritchie.

David Murie - was he a RB?

Tommy Harrison - I vaguely remember being a big bit of hype about this guy but only made a few appearances.

Anymore?:)

This may be seen as a bit flippant, but I genuinely would have added Stephen Frail to that list 2 years ago....

Stuart Callachan, Kevin Thomas, Paul McMullan.

Remember there was fair bit of hype about all three of them.

Kevin Thomas was the next big thing until his leg break. Sad the way it turned out for him *sniff*. :D

Paul McMullan's still playing I think?

If your talking about players brought to the club rather than players coming through the youth system, how about - Steve penney, Gary Williams(never got a game), Adrian Boothroyd, Ian Ferguson(not the one that scored against Bayern), John Millar, ( all Joe Jordan signings), Mark Gavin(Alex McDonald signing) , Colin Cramb, David Hagen, Colin Miller(Tommy McLean signings).....can't think of anymore at the moment

A journeyman and half that one !!

IIRC he had a cracking match v Celtic at Tynecastle.

He was only here for about 6 months or so.

6 months?

He was still at Hearts 2 and a half years later!

Incidentally, he scored in 3 consecutive seasons for us.

When did Clum do that? :D

no I mean they kept him in the team for about 6 months after it became clear he was colin nish. Anyone else (apart from clum) would have been dropped long since for such shocker performances.

Mark Gavin...I remember he missed a sitter after coming on as a sub at Ibrox, think it was Robertson's last game before he went to Newcastle, Robbo scored a penalty and McPherson scored in a 2-1 win

Aye, sure I can remember that, think it was the day we beat them 2-1, a week after the 'Henry Smith' semi-final...?

Dirk Diggler
Darren Goldie

I once spent a week in Magaluf in the company of Darren Goldie and Kris o Neil.

With the amount of Alcohol he consumed It's little wonder he soon moved on to pastures new.

Come to think of it, I hope he's still alive.

My mate played against him (the East of Scotland sides name escapes me) - he was honking (Paviot)

From Toulouse, I think.

I think another high profile name at the time was Jeremy Goss.

He did amazingly well at Norwich but somehow, either didn't give a toss anymore or wasn't in the best condition.

Was the guy Marinello who played for the Hobos the same guy as who lined up for us in the early 80s?

Robert Sloan was a prospect a few years back. Never rated him highly myself but he did score against Murderwell I'm sure at Fir Park?

He's surely playing still at a lower level...

Think Oldham paid Norwich (or the otherway round) a million for him at one point.

All I can remember about his time at Hearts is he scored against Dundee in a cup game when Hearts wore a horrible yellow away top. Jim Hamilton scored for Dundee that night?

Jimmy Sandison - a perm of class.

Justin Fashanu! I remember he scored a raker, was it against Aberdeen maybe??

:)

He only scored once and was against Partick Thistle.

It was either a mis-hit or a deflection.

Whatever it was - it was not a 'raker'.

I'm sure Paille scored that night also.

Infact I'm sure was MOM and won a Coca-Cola Mountain Bike.
