Tbf, it's hardly "come out of nowhere", he's been reportedly on the verge of signing for them just about every transfer window he's been at Hearts. It's turned out to be bollocks every other time.

Also, where are folk getting the "£0 release clause" from? There's no mention of anything like that in the article.

Nobody has reported he was on the verge of signing for them. Keith Jackson hyping up the possibility of a bid was about as far as it got.

Hopefully Jock the Jambo is heading round his hoose now to tug on the heart strings.

If it's a clause it's a ****ing massive blow.

If it meets the JTA valuation then it's a big blow and an interesting wait and see.

Chris Boyd was on that podcast with Naismith and Sutton last week saying if he had his Rangers head on he would go and get McIness and Shankland

You just wonder if he knows something

He said the same thing last season and every transfer window since

His Rangers head cannot comprehend the amount of money that would cost Rangers.

Rangers can definitely afford him, have no doubt about that.

Good news for us is they’ll need to pay up and we won’t sell him for cheap. He’s not one who I thought would be sold but everyone in this team has a price. Need to trust the recruitment team to get a good replacement.

the rumour as others have already stated is that as part of his contract he signed last year he got a release clause for this summer, speculation is it  needs to be activated by end of June. some say it’s for nothing and others saying the clause is £2mill

If Rangers offer £5 mil or more take it.

He will not suit Rohl’s style.

He's a goalscorer

Couldn’t care less if any player leaves. It’s all about who we bring in.

How do people know about players employment contracts 🤣

Let’s focus on the real story here eh.
Hearts getting cheated out of the league. This is just propaganda to take the eyes away from what really matters.

It's the sun so will wait and see if Barry Anderson or Joel sked go with the story

Understand that but Bragas stats are no far off his this season and we paid what 200-400k for him.

I trust Jamestown Analytics to find better.

was just saying this to a Rangers supporting friend, he is very sceptical as he says there is a running joke on follow follow about how many players are 48 hours away from signing for Rangers. He thinks its the media just generating stories. t

Got told this at 18.15 today

Source, someone close to a finance guy at Rfc

Not buying this for a second. Seasons over now, what’s the story every rangers fan loves to read about? Shankland to rangers.
clickbait nonsense

Apparently it’s for £0 (due to a release clause).

If he has a £0 release clause, why didn’t they try and sign him last month (to unsettle him) or January for that matter? Smells highly suspect.

Shanks is massive in the dressing room, his leadership qualities team influence would leave us short of more than 20 goals a season and possibly question our direct opposition being stronger

I've every faith in JTA to take us to a higher level next season regardless

probably only active after the end of the season

I think this is going to be a grim couple of days for us.

Saw a tweet saying we're going to be extremely frustrated once the details of his contract surface. Suggests this free transfer stuff is true.

That is shocking.

Cant see us just rolling over and letting him leave! Barring any release clause, which you hope wouldn't exist but it could have been part of his conditions to re-sign. However if they wanted to pay a ridiculous amount of money and he was set on going it might happen.

A zero clause not a chance that’s true

Cannot see this happening unless 5 million

it’s not great.  But was it the only way we could get him to sign.  We got the extra year, I’d paid off as we had an unbelievable season.

I suppose that is possible.  Why the 48 hour urgency then? If the clause kicks in today (ie last day of season, after Scottish Cup Final), it’s still going to be in play for a week or two, no?

Players come, players go, but Hearts still go on, we’re on the very bottom rung of the Bloom ladder, every player is replaceable with someone better, it’s how the system works!

The transfer window is closed until June is it not

Predicted this and could see this may happen. The Cavenagh comments were pretty revealing and it seemed likely Shankland was the main target.

If anyone can be sold for a justifiable profit they will be. That’s what we have signed up for and it will be to our benefit in the long term.

No clue mate, the deal last summer was a hard one though .  He clearly wanted to go, he clearly held all the cards.  We had very little leverages. Entirely possible he said he’d sign with a release clause.  We had nothing to lose at that time either.

this does sadly seem plausible

Not sure its a free, but I'm suspect its a very low fee for the calibre of player he is.

Yes people really need to get their heads round the model , players like   Braga could be away in the summer if we get 5 mill plus it shows the model works , I’m an old ***** I thought we had won this but jiggers poker from the corrupt *******s said no , them I will hang in their as long as it takes even if someone is standing over me with a set of paddles, **** these scummy *******s

Surely it's just not good business sense to sell your best players to the opposition. Isn't Tony Bloom on record as having said that he wouldn't want the club to do deals with the Old Firm, he'd rather break them instead? Better we attract more investment or sell South or abroad if interest comes from there.

Who can blame him? He won’t be allowed to win the league playing for us.

There is another comment on Scott McIntosh post from himself saying that he believes McInnes and the journalist from The Sun are close.

I ignored this story until the Scott McIntosh tweet.

It comes down to the transfer clause. If the release clause is 7 figure, fair play to Shankland and good luck. If it’s in the 6 figures, it rapidly gets more depressing the lower it goes.

Waiting to see where this goes.

Mmmm . This is gaining traction. Will be gutted if he goes obviously. But we have had the best years from him and his wages will clear the way for someone else. We keep moving on . I have faith in the process

He's said his other clubs will will do business with them if the money is right and it suits the player.

He's said our players would more than likely have offers from bigger and better than the OF.

Shankland is probably an exception tbf. Nobody of note wanted him and the OF is probably his ceiling.

I dont agree with Scott's comment about pivotal for fan buy in for JTA/Bloom. We were all aboard regardless if Shankland was here or not.
