N Lincs Jambo Posted May 6 Posted May 6 I like the OP's post but not the thread title. Let's get the thing won first! One thing is for sure though, and that is we only need three points from nine to guarantee second and a chance, albeit a far less likely chance, of Champions League football. IF we do win the title, the two-legged CL play-off is our biggest game in Europe since we played AEK at Murrayfield. I've posted a couple of times before that should we actually get through to the CL league phase, I think we'd use the remainder of the summer transfer window to recruit a totally different level of player to what we have now, given we'd be guaranteed an extra £30-£40 Million in revenue, to give us a chance of competing against sides from pots 4, 5 and 6. We'd still likely take some utter hammerings (Bayern beat Dinamo Zagreb 9-2 for example and Zagreb aren't exactly dug meat). What this would do domestically would be huge. We could very quickly establish a financial gap from us to the Aberdeens and TinPots of the world similar to what the OF have enjoyed over us for decades. I would expect us to compete for the title most seasons even if we didn't win it next year.

I've worn all black all season. I can't change now ffs! It was an accident at first but you can't mess with these things. And always Žaliūkas turnstile 26 for me, BTW.

Sourcing players like this from obscure places, developing them, giving them opportunities on a bigger platform and sometimes selling them on rather quickly for silly money. The downside is that we fans become rather attached to these idols while the upside is we get lots of money and we go again. It’s a win/win for everyone as CB moves on to a bigger stage and his development continues, while his bank balance grows beyond his wildest dreams. Hearts on the other hand lose a great player who has also developed the club during his stay. We gain lots of money too to allow us to continue our growth as a club. It provides great encouragement to other players across the globe who see what CB has achieved and they’ll think… that could be me if I sign for Hearts? Not all players will be as successful, but from a Hearts perspective they don’t all need to be. Already on our books for next season there are a number of players who are Jamestown signings such as Ageu, Altena, Kerjota, Mato, Kabore, Chesnokov as well as McPake. Some may not be as successful and they won’t always be hitting the ground running. Nevertheless I have high hopes for all these signings that they will get more opportunities to settle and develop further next season. I’m almost 60 and I’ve been a regular follower of Hearts since I was a wee boy of 5. In all of my many years following this great club domestically and abroad I have never been so excited about not only the present time, but also for what the future holds. This club is moving in an upwards trajectory and at such a fast pace. Some major decisions will need to be made to in order to ensure our journey is sustainable. If and I’m confident we do win the league this season, will mean success has come much earlier than anyone including Tony Bloom could ever have anticipated. Now the real gut wrenching begins as we know we will lose idols such as Claudio Braga to further their hopes and aspirations as individuals. But what about Tynecastle Park itself? Our home and I actually feckin love our stadium. However, it’s not big enough and I’m really not too sure how it can be enlarged sufficiently to allow our club to grow with the success we strive to achieve. The Main stand is absolutely beautiful with the hotel and restaurant within. Then you have the many function suites and they all generate good amounts of cash. I’ve stayed in the hotel twice and it’s incredible, really incredible. I’ve been to the restaurant around 20 odd times and my Hibby mad daughter-in-law who loathes Hearts has named the Skyline as her favourite ever restaurant. So as good as the Main stand is, along with the 3 other beautiful steep stand that all generate such a wonderful atmosphere. Our ground is too small and we must grow to be able to accommodate around 30000 capacity. Presently and going forwards we are continually turning away customers. Many are young people who may look to the other side of the city in order to see a football game. Habits stick and before you know it they’ll be following the same shitty wee club as my daughter-in-law. It’s going to be really gut wrenching when the time comes but decisions will need to be made. This all sounds so dramatic but we are moving at such a fast pace and this is no time to stand still off the park. It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if at the end of this season our board make noises about an expansion or relocation of a new stadium. Personally I’d love an expansion of Tynecastle to take our capacity up by 10000 but I’m not sure if this is even achievable? I doubt it though and I don’t want a soulless stadium on the city outskirts either. so what do we do? 🇱🇻🇱🇻🇱🇻 No offence, but you're old enough to know (a lot) better.
Bridge of Djoum Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Win the league, then be the team that relegates Hibs next season.

It's a cauldron, a fortress that can give us an advantage. Just look at the success Bodo Glimt have managed. Deep runs in European competitions and a stadium capacity of about 8,000. New stadium will be about 10,000. Obviously there might be scope at slightly increasing the capacity somehow, but we must also look at the other ways we will be bringing money in. Regular euro football, and selling players for significant profit. Can we expand Hearts TV and increase subscriptions? Sell more merchandise? We are big news the world over just now. There will be serious coin to make. We cannot risk ripping the heart/soul out of the club by moving imho. Anyway that's for another day. Focus on the here and now. That's beating Motherwell.
H2 Posted May 6 Posted May 6 let's not get ahead of ourselves. 1 game at a time, forget everything else.

Its game I was more worried about, I felt at home we could beat sevco this game could easily go tits up. They give us problems every time and probably should have beat us already this season. Add in o'donnell slattery welsh mcginn wanting to help their team and constant feigning injury at a ground we struggle at it wont be easy. My son said weeks ago if we beat hibs sevco and well we can win it saturday game is huge. We drop points it will give celtic huge boost for sunday. Edited May 7 by bloomtime
