Does he actually get genuine factual advice from his advisers and acts on this (doubtful) 2. Do his advisers just tell him what he wants to hear (likely) 3. Does he accept no advice and makes it up as he goes along (likely) 4. A combination of the above 3 (highly likely)

A combination of the above 3 (highly likely) 1 The people around him are deliberately incompetent yes men. 2 Absolutely the last person to tell him not to invade Iran was Charlie Kirk and he was assassinated most likely by the state that has been trying to drag the United states into a war with Iran for the last fifty years. 3 Thats debatable he seems to be controlled by Netanyahu and the Israel lobby in the US. 4 Yes it’s so odd Trumps behaviour and it defies logic. He seems to be on an agenda that is making him hugely unpopular and he doesn’t seem to care.

A combination of the above 3 (highly likely) A combination of 2 and 3. It's all very worrisome. He's already said that he doesn't care about the mid-term elections, and he can't run for re-election (ignore those who say he will). So he has no restraints. The USA and the world is screwed until he's gone, and that's about 2+ years away.

Maple Leaf Posted June 1 Posted June 1 The talks are going nowhere fast. Iran is no longer talking. It'll soon be time for Trump to threaten them with annihilation again. https://www.cnn.com/2026/06/01/world/live-news/iran-trump-lebanon-war-news

If America decides to go back to full war it will be a big risk, especially financially as they've already suffered a lot of damages, spent a lot on air/drone defence and a lot on their own attack missiles etc. Good thing they've got a sensible level headed leader to guide them through these tough and important negotiations.

Footballfirst Posted June 3 Posted June 3 The US congress has voted against continuing the war against Iran without its approval (215 to 208). It won't change anything for the moment, as Trump can veto the decision, but it's symptomatic of the Republicans becoming increasingly concerned about the way the war is playing out.

Four Republicans voted with the Dems. Their coats are now on a shoogly peg.

My guess, and it is only a guess, is that the 4 are likely to be not standing for reelection anyway. Sort of growing a set (or sticking two fingers up) as they are leaving the building maybe? Diadora Van Basten Posted June 4 Author Posted June 4 I was watching Senator Van Hollen cross examining Marco Rubio and he didn’t pull his punches. Told him they had started an illegal war that had cost the lives of US military, Iranian Civilians and driven up food and gas prices. For the record I think the Strait of Hormuz will be shut until October as the US won’t take their medicine and accept Iran’s demands and Israel won’t give up on their Greater Israel project.

But Donald says Iran are keen to do a deal. Strange though, Iran's economy has been severely rattled with mssive inflation and job losses, etc. I am surprised they are managing to drag this on so much. Massive Maga clusterfeck
Footballfirst Posted Sunday at 22:44 Posted Sunday at 22:44 Iran has fired missiles at Israel once again, following Israel bombing Beruit. Trump says he will ask Netanyahu not to retaliate, but I don't see him doing so. The peace deal that Trump claimed to have in his grasp months ago seems further away than ever.

Trump finding that it's more difficult to get the dog back on the leash that let him off it.

Watt-Zeefuik Posted Monday at 13:04 Posted Monday at 13:04 So poignant that Marjane Satrapi died in the middle of this cluster****. Have to wonder if it was from a broken heart over all of this.
