Smith&Weston Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Findlay has been good the majority of the season and scored a lot of important goals. He didn’t make any of the tackles that resulted in the red cards. Mistakes are made all over the pitch. He plays on Tuesday and just need to decide who with. I’d go Steinweinder as think Kent is weak and McCart is left sided which creates an imbalance. His pace might also be needed.
Bill Sikes Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I like being top of the league. Hopefully the players are enjoying it enough to keep the standard up that got us there. As for the JKB supporters. Absolutely shitting yourselves. Its actually really funny and a decent tonic for that disappointing team performance last night.
Rudi5kaceldream1ng Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I'd view Findlay as certainly good enough for the squad moving forward but he must be benched next season, surely jta can find another cb who doesn't panic as much as he does on the ball when the pressure is on? He had his attributes, excellent in the air, a goalscorer so as I said great squad player. Not a first team player moving forward and del better get used to that fact tbh.

Pasquale for King Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Has made quite a few errors this season, definitely need better next season if we get to where we want to go.
feedthefox Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I really don't get the Findlay pile on. The two red cards to Beni and Halkett he had a key involvement in I get that, but come on, did Beni really need to lunge in like he did? Halkett made a terrific tackle to regain control of the situation but then inexplicably tried to dribble out of trouble rather than just toe poke it away. Both players could and should have prevented their own red cards and its disingenuous to lay the reds squarely at Findlay's door. He's been largely outstanding this year and his goals have been really key goals, this season he's our 4th = top goalscorer and he's scored more goals than our entire midfield put together. With Halkett out (4th = top goalscorer) that's a lot of goal threat we'd be without if we benched Findlay too, not to mention his assists from set pieces our biggest threat.
CM Funk Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Unfortunately every team will be looking at Findlay the same way now if they weren’t already

Someone asked why some were criticising Schwolow and I told them. You don’t like my choice of words but they’re true nonetheless, Schwolow makes a lot of camera saves. It’s embarrassing (with a double ‘s’) by the way so if you’re going to use the word, please spell it right. 👍

A forward line of Kyzi, Findlay and Braga would cause chaos. 😃 Surprised anybody doesn’t get the criticism. The 3 points in the OP regarding red cards are not wrong. Added to the goal v Hibs he sold and his Bambi on ice performance at Motherwell when he was a panic merchant long Just sent him for the pies…it’s fair to say it’s CB time on the analytics.

He could have left it but he got his angles wrong , it happens and as for the last sentence its a football forum not Countdown, suppose it makes you feel kinda cool 👍
Smithian Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Findlay had a couple other horror passes earlier this season I remember Halkett and Beni saving Findlay has been good for Hearts and I hope/expect he is brought on permanently, but if Hearts are in Europe next season, he needs to be the league rotation, not the Cup and Europe rotation.

He's already been brought in bud. Got a 2 year deal I'm sure. Precontract deal
Dazo Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Findlay has made mistakes but I’m not sure that it’s any more than other players. What has been unfortunate for him is that we have been really punished for his mistakes. Players make mistakes up and down the pitch but not all are costly. He’s been unlucky in that respect imo.

Now you’re admitting he got his angles wrong. HE knows he got his angles badly wrong, if he’s at his post or aware of where it is, he sees that wide. I think he had a very decent game, pretty commanding in the box and he had a great, verging on incredible, save from Mandron at the other post. However, every other save last night was him chucking himself about for the cameras and we would not have been happy had any gone in.

I agree with the signing of him permanently, I just don't Hearts should look for an upgrade on him next year.

Absolutely, I want one JTA signing and if he's not demanding too much I quite fancy Luke Graham to come in and be a rotation option for next year and learn off Findlay and Halkett for a year and can fill in when JTA guy hopefully moves on for big money. Also keeps the line of Scottish bodies coming in.

He's not great with the ball at his feet though and is pressed accordingly. He's getting off lightly because of his goals tally. What is worrying is its similar mistakes he keeps making.

He is what he is, overall his contribution is to the team is greater than his mistakes. He gets scapegoated because he is wrongly seen as Dels little pet. All his good games get completely ignored after one of his mistakes get punished. Right he is seen as the best option for the team, I’m not sure anyone can argue against that considering our defensive record and his goals scored recorded. We also need to remember this is year one of Jta, he will be a back up going forward. Can’t we be a little patient and allow the progress to actually happen.

Ahhh so you think he'll be a backup moving forward? I just think mccart offers more and isn't getting a fair crack of the whip not because Findlay is Dels little pet but because Del is stubborn. I'd imagine Findlay apologised to several people post match last night, and wonder whether he feels extra pressure because of the faith mcinnes put in him?
Drylaw Hearts Posted February 4 Posted February 4 So what we need is defenders that make no mistakes. That should be easy enough………
Der Kaiser Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Findlay has been fantastic for us. Yes there are mistakes that have been costly but I feel some folk are focusing too much on them and not the good performances. He's part of the best defence in the league and thats not by accident.
ramrod Posted February 4 Posted February 4 If Findlay would just learn he's no Franco Baresi and just launch the ball on the odd occasion he is being put under pressure he would do just fine.
Kells_On_Jackson Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Curious, what's the deal with this dude? I know he was at Kilmarnock with Deek, then Deek brought him to Hearts. So I'm guessing he must have been put through the JTA process to get the gig, right? I have a hard time believing Deek would roll up to the execs and tell them he wants to bring him over, and they wouldn't question any of it.
tcjambo Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Most of he time Findlay is great but when he's bad he really bad. His performance against Hibs at ER was a shocker. Looks like he had another one last night.

He said in an interview with Open Goal that he thinks they gave him that one, implying he was borderline or didn't pass.

I'm not sure he will be back up going forward, don't see DM dropping him. Him and Halks have been pretty solid all season , every player makes mistakes but his mistakes are all leading to goals and red cards so it's amplified
