Russ1977 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Looked like they wanted it more than is straight from kick off. We knew exactly what was coming so it’s on us for failing to deal with it properly. Saying that without findlays brain fart I don’t think we’d have lost that game.
Shaggy2 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 6 hours ago, Thomaso said: He made no attempt to play the ball he just blatantly kicked Braga on the thigh to stop him. Gogic thumping Beni on the face should also have been looked at. Yeah, the laws of the game are in a weird place just now. Fatah tackles on Saturday with his heel on the ground but at such an angle that his front two studs catch Leonard on the ankle. Correctly red carded because it’s “high” enough to be dangerous. A blatant boot on the thigh/hip isn’t. It’s a bit like handball, it’s all over the place. The fact is McLean was put under unnecessary pressure last night, he’ll still have Saint Martin’s criticism ringing in his ears and should have been nowhere near a Hearts or Celtic game until the end of March at least. Beaton on VAR too, the exact same team that has taken stick from Celtic for the past 10 days.

I reserve the right to criticise the referee in previous post but agree with this and I have no real qualms about the result. It’s 90% on Findlay and 10% on the rest of the outfield players. I’d probably exclude Braga and McEntee. The game definitely looked like it was settling down and we were starting to control it when the red card incident took place. If it rightly goes 10 v 10 for the closing stages, who knows what might have happened?

selkirkhmfc1874 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Against St lie down you've got to win battle before quality takes over and unfortunately last night they started winning tackles, 1st and 2nd balls and at times bullied us imo

Ive no doubt about that. They few minutes before it, we'd managed to get the ball moving and their initial onslaught was fading. You need to get through that and we just about had. You coukd see football was about to break out, i was sitting there starting to think, ok here we go now. Then... But the ref was a joke. How they escaped yellows was unbelievable. And dont start on the foul on McEntee in a great position to get a delivery. Right infront of linesman too. As others have said, would love footage of the Gogic elbow on Beni. Maybe nowt in it, but it looked like he swung the elbow
G McJambo Posted February 4 Posted February 4 We lost because we played badly as a team. We were set up to be big physical Hearts, which blunted our creative options and limited our threats, even from the bench. Hindsight is wonderful but I do think we would have beaten them by playing football, not hoofball. Some of the punts up the park from defenders, Findlay in particular were embarrassing. Feels like we over adapted against a team that has been struggling to score goals, and struggling to win games which is disappointing.
Ian Black 8 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 If u think thats bad wait till Hibs play us on Tuesday

Tried to have an arm wrestle with them and they won probably the only chance they had of beating us as well. Played right into their hands. McInnes' mistake is thinking we need to match them physically rather than pass through them. Done great against the big teams but he loves to try and match up to these huddys

You’ve obviously got to compete but the emphasis on being big and physical, wanting defenders to just punt the ball down the pitch isn’t necessary. Got to be a balance. Especially when we’ve got some good midfielders playing. Ball just went over their heads all night. Get it forward and don’t allow pressure on yourself but play into midfield when you can. We’ve signed a lot of good footballers, McInnes seems adamant we have to play like a relegation threatened Killie side rammed full of plodders.
Rudy T Posted February 4 Posted February 4 The whole team except Braga were miles off it last night. What I don’t understand is why we were dicking about with the ball so much at the back. For the first 15 minutes just get the ball launched into the corners and turn St Mirrens back line. Even Shankland has a torrid time holding the ball up against the land of the giants that make up their defence. We gave them the ball so many times the pressure kept building.

I couldn’t believe we where doing that either as they where pressing very high so as you say hit the corners, turn there defence and fight for 2nd balls in there half.

Hearts were poor even before the red card ,sloppy side way's football at the back , no high tempo to attack ,clearly we don't have enough player's that can drag the team up the park quickly , Braga was outstanding ,along with Alex in goal . not many more pass mark's ,George had an easy 90 odd minutes in goal with very little to do , the very thought of Kent leading the team out against Hibs is a bomb scare of a thought ,DM needs to open his eyes an bring Mc Cart in to the defence .

Really? How come Falkirk, Motherwell and Hibs dispatched them with such ease? Is it not more a case that our manager actually does not know how to play them?
Pasquale Posted February 4 Posted February 4 I don't get the apologists on here. The fact is that St Mirren were allowed to kick us up and down the pitch at will, much as happened on the Celtic game, with no cards being dished out. Constant fouls and disruptions take their toll. On the other hand we will be penalised for every 50/50 challenge. The same will be true in all of the matches going forward. If you don't think that has a bearing on results then you're a pure fantasist. The GSFA will determine where the title goes.
Mr Benn Posted February 4 Posted February 4 We were awful before the sending off and it deteriorated after that. Would prefer to see us out-skill a very limited team rather than try to out-battle them when that’s what they’re good at. Think we have only won one League game there in eight.
MoncurMacdonaldMercer Posted February 4 Posted February 4 robinson his players and the fans having a wee laugh at how weak we are a bit like we were doing when findlay destroyed the even weaker engels at the celtic game

Rocky jamboa Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Surely we can come up with something better against this team of cloggers? It's so frustrating that they bully us every time we play them and we dont have an answer for it.

How has he not learned, how have these idiots playing not learned to play there. Only hearts could chuck a performance like that when it mattered. St Mirren who are in a relegation battle. St Mirren who haven’t scored at home in three games. At Mirren who can’t buy a win. Gutless, pathetic and embarrassing all round and only thanks to Schwollow was it not worse. An utterly disgusting performance Here bud don’t you hold back now😏 What happened to get right behind the team. And you don’t have bad days at the work🤔
gordiegords Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Be interesting to see if all the other teams that have beaten st Mirren this season get so hell bent on changing things to match up with their physicality.
jbee647 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 McInnes’s record against St Mirren as a manager prior to becoming Hearts manager was excellent, I don’t know for a fact but I think he had only ever lost once/ or twice to St Mirren as a manager prior to this season

Am confident , Tynie will be bouncing and a win against Hibs gets the St Mirren result out the way .. Hibs will be physical though like they have the last few derbies we just need to use the crowed and atmosphere to our advantage and we will win the game
merseyjambo Posted February 4 Posted February 4 You know what you are going to get with Robinson. Physicality and Energy. McLean didn’t help last night as he allowed their players to get away with wrestling. Amazingly Kabore (deservedly so) gets booked for his first foul, yet King, Gogic and the forward who booted Steinwender twice in quick succession got away with barely being spoken to.
HMFC 86 Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Looking at the red card, based on the tackle/foul by Halkett I would say it looked like a red, but that ignores the fouls on Findlay and Halkett before that challenge. For both of those fouls the st Mirren player was all over the back of our player and brought them to the ground, how are neither of those challenges a foul and a free kick for us? I accept we brought the pressure on ourselves with Findlay turning back but it seemed st Mirren could do anything there and they weren’t penalised
Jingle Bells Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Just bypass the midfield and get them turning and look for second balls.. likewise put in good crosses, There is no point trying to play football against them as Gogic and Phillips will nail anything that moves in midfield,. Two shots on target over 90 minutes! Lols

No Hearts player, past, present or future should ever be fearful of playing Hibs. No Hearts supporter should ever be fearful of playing them either. Every confidence that Hearts will be 6 points clear come Tuesday night
