Where on earth has £8m been quoted?! I’d be delighted if it was half of that right now….

McInnes will play the players he feels is best regardless of age.

Wilson isn't better than Shankland or Braga and Kabore offers something very different.

Wilson isn't playing as he's been kept out by better and on form players, not because he's young.

His methods are completely justified as well.

Exactly. People need to chill out with this.

He's 18, he's got all the time in the world to nail down a starting berth somewhere but at this moment he's not far enough along in his development to be getting regular games for a title challenging Hearts team. He offers us nothing that the senior pros ahead of him don't.

See also with the people wanting Kabangu given more games, who does he play ahead of? Why would you drop an in form player who's helped us to the top of the league just for the sake of playing a squad guy? It makes no sense.

Arguments around Kerjota or (when he's actually been fit) Borch not starting I understand because they have had players out of position starting ahead of them (although again, it's mostly worked so it's hard to really complain much) but our 3 main strikers are all amongst the leagues best for goals per minute & are ahead of Wilson & Kabangu for a legitimate reason.

I swear some fans just invent reasons to be annoyed at Hearts sometimes - this season isn't about future planning it's about trying to win the league.

If the big-nosed diver from Lochend went for £6M, £8M seems fair enough for James.

That’s all football discourse is these days. Have you read Instagram or Facebook comments? Everyone just wants to be angry all the time and yell “game’s gone”

It’s honestly exhausting.

The reaction to the team lineups makes me laugh. "Why's x player playing?" "Where's y player"...

...maybe just trust the manager knows who to pick considering what he's done for us?

Twitter used to be the worst for it, no longer on it but I can imagine it's still just as bad

Bowie was sold for almost £7 m

Wilson is worth more than Bowie

£10 m and they can have him ☺️

"Significant" loan fee.

Not convinced this is a great deal for Hearts. If he goes to Arsenal on loan and doesn’t impress what then?

Presumably we have no acceptable offers submitted, hes not going to play, and this is a way of improving him, at very least 🤷‍♂️

Not perfect, but maybe best option to maintain his profile,  and try again in summer.

The statement was that this isn’t a good deal for Hearts. Great if he goes down and impresses but if he doesn’t we are potentially in a worse position than now.

if he’s attracting a club of arsenals stature I seriously doubt whether that’s the only option. Just because we don’t know about other options doesn’t mean there aren’t any.

But we're not in a worse position, he's not currently doing anything already. What's more likely to attract a big bid in summer:

- an 18 year old who attracted Arsenal and didn't make the grade over 6 months

- an 18 year old who didn't make the grade at Hearts in the SPFL over 6 months

I'm fairly confident scenario 1 plays out better for Hearts than have him sitting here doing diddly squat. As I already agreed, a third option may be significantly better, if it appears

Edit: I've not been following this afternoon so it looks as though a 3rd or more options have appeared...which may well not have done without Arsenal making their interest known.

I don’t think I’m making myself clear. Right now he has attracted interest from Newcastle, Arsenal and now Spurs. He isn’t staying at Hearts past summer. It’s not a case of he stays at Hearts or he never leaves.

if he goes to Arsenal and is rejected after the loan then are bigger clubs still going to be after him? I have my doubts. Arsenal not willing to commit to anything past a 3 month loan is far from ideal.

To the edit, I did say earlier Arsenal won’t be the only option.

Well would presume that would be discussed between Tottenham and Hearts. If they are committed to purchase.

£25m for Engels, £6m for Bowie, £13m for chermiti.  Sorry with the potential hard had those are exactly the kind of numbers we should be working towards either directly or via sell ons

They are perhaps the numbers we should be working towards, whatever that means   but I'm sorry,  I'm not buying that we have a laddie worth that sort of money currently unable to get a sniff in our first tesm. Love to be proved wrong.

No I get what you're saying. Newcastle was rejected by all accounts. So in a binary choice of doing nowt at Hearts or Arsenal, it's better for us he does nowt there.

I also said they may not be the only option, but that of the known options at that time I failed to see how doing nothing was better.

No benefit to Hearts here if it’s a loan to buy.

depends on tbe loan fee I suppose.  But no I wouldn’t have thought it’s in our interest unless we can get one in

Of course there is. We get a loan fee, if they opt to buy him in the summer we score a good transfer fee, if they don't then he's had four months training in an elite set up, we get him back and we've been paid for the privilege.

The chances of him getting any significant game time here in the coming months are slim and dependent on a couple more players getting injured so we're not really losing anything.

The only potential downside is if Spurs opt not to sign him in the summer after having looked at him for half a season it might put some of his other big suitors off coming back in.

It is if we are getting a loan fee for a player who isn't even getting a look in at the moment if it then leads to us getting a bigger fee in the summer.
