Wee Mikey Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Every time I hear The Beach Boys singing 'God Only Knows', I cannot help but merge it into Madness singing 'It Must Be Love'. Have a listen, if you can be bothered, and see if you agree. Also, any other examples of this? Beach Boys:- Madness:-
Wee Mikey Posted November 3 Author Posted November 3 (edited) Double post!!! Edited November 3 by Wee Mikey Double post.
Cruyff Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Probably because both songs share similar chords. God only knows is in Amaj, It must be love is in Gmaj and the chorus both have Bminor and Dmaj which are in both keys, hence the merge.

Der Kaiser Posted November 4 Posted November 4 (edited) Whe I hear the drum kick in for Sparks' The Number one Song in Heaven..right at the start here ..I keep thinking in my head its going to turn into the battle theme from Flash Gordon. 1:28 When the hawk men land on Mings ship. (Also at 2:10 when Flash goes after Biro) Obscure I know but my head works in a weird way ok. Edited November 4 by Der Kaiser
I P Knightley Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Radiohead - Creep and The Hollies - The Air that I Breathe For years, I'd be listening to Creep and slip into "Peace came upon me, and it leaves me weak; so sleep silent angel, go to sleep." before reading that Radiohead were forced (or volunteered) to credit the Hollies' songwriters for their song.

They both have a shift from. Major chord to a minor. In the case of Creep it goes from B straight to Bm. Following the OP’s idea if I sing or whistle the theme from Catch The Pigeon it always shifts to the opening song from The Pink Panther Show.

As does Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye, where Cole Porter uses the shift of the lyric, "how strange the change, from major to minor." Clever ^^^^ that Cole Porter.
All roads lead to Gorgie Posted November 6 Posted November 6 I am not even sure of the song as pure pop music isn't what I would listen to willingly but there was some Taylor Swift track on the radio ( one of the millions right now ) in it there was a section of a few bars that sounded just like a Adele song and another that sounded like Lana Del Rey. Again I don't know the titles but it maybe suggests the same song writers or producers involved. Music is so dam similar today with the same background beat in hundreds of chart fodder with its autotuned voices making it even worse to listen to.
I P Knightley Posted November 6 Posted November 6 I heard Boulevard of Broken Dreams being played on the radio today with Wonderwall being overlaid on it. Sounded as though it had all been written as one song.
Ray Gin Posted November 6 Posted November 6 Wannabe DJ trying to steal setlist ideas type thread IMO.
Ked Posted November 7 Posted November 7 A song that merges into itself and highlights the crystal beauty of Dianna Ross
I P Knightley Posted November 12 Posted November 12 I'm just listening to someone singing Peggy Lee's "Fever" over the instrumentals from "The Passenger" by Iggy Pop. It works.
Costanza Posted Wednesday at 20:37 Posted Wednesday at 20:37 (edited) Radcliffe and Maconie often play the Rentaghost theme tune as an interstitial and every time I hear the laugh at the end I always go into Wipeout (the original, not the Fat Boys and Beach Boys cover) Edited Wednesday at 20:37 by Costanza
