JudyJudyJudy Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Which one is the less hassle to lose if you were asked you had to lose one ? ok yesterday I got rather pissed . Celebrating good health news by sticking unhealthily poison down my throat !!! Typical British ! Had a lovely breakfast brunch with a couple fellow jambos ! With Prosecco . That started the drink band wagon . Bensons later and home at unknown time . I woke up and noticed my phone wasn’t at its usual place . Hunted high and low and couldn’t find it . So started the palaver of cancelling my SIM card . Tried “ find my phone “ from my laptop but it said it was offline . Thought about the most pressing thing to cancel ? Bank app . So tried to do that but it was a nuisance as you need a number to send a code to !! Arghh changed password on various sites like FB Insta and just left JKB as didn’t think someone would go on that ! Anyway decided to get ready and go along to Apple Store to get them to erase the phone as I couldn’t even do that . Got ready to leave the house and outside my front door was my phone and passport ! I had taken passport out to go to bank the other day . 😎😂 anyway it’s a question I’ve asked my mates which one is the worse to lose ? As in causing most inconvenience ? id probably say phone due to the above . House keys maybe if u live alone and don’t have keys elsewhere ? Hassle to get the lock change and expensive and also a carry on if you’ve been out on the piss wallet ? Yep lost that earlier this year but got it back via HMFC ( thanks ) but even though it had my cards etc it was easy to cancel them almost immediately . So what do others think?
hughesie27 Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Definitely keys but only because I have either someone else in the house or someone else out the house with a spare. Then would be Wallet, I never carry cash so would just be a case of cancelling cards. Pain in the arse certainly. Phone would be crap but insured so replaceable. An everyday tool though.

JudyJudyJudy Posted November 2 Author Posted November 2 This made me laugh a few Years back https://youtu.be/LT--h2GjaAU?si=YoNozuszJ9ln4DyM
Victorian Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Certainly had that moment a few times in years gone by. Wake up feeling like you've been run over by a lorry, do the checks to see if you have everything, fly into a panic when you can't find the phone or wallet, literally crawl around looking in every random place and under stuff. That moment of relief when you find the phone under the wardrobe / in the wardrobe / in your boot / in your pants / halfway up the dog's sheriffs.

I just felt what a nuisance really and hassle and yes start looking in the most ludicrous places ! Wardrobe , chest of drawers , fridge lol under the sofa , bathroom !

Nowadays it's not a great idea to lose your phone. Worse still is to have it stolen. Banking apps especially. I've read a few horror stories about just how swiftly criminals can turn you upside down by getting into your banking.

Almost impossible . Anyway I didn’t have to do it. I just thought in nearly 60 and losing my phone on a night out !!! Bloody ludicrous . I had a great night though .

Dick Dastardly Posted November 2 Posted November 2 I'd say waking up in the winter rain outside your house at 5 am with no money and no keys was probably the worst for me. Also a real low point and wake up call 😄😄😄 The cuts on my face and arms were aslo quite worrying.

AyrJambo Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Keys the least hassle - have a spare set at MiL's Then phone - no banking on there, in fact nothing on there I would miss Then wallet - 2 or 3 cards to cancel

AlimOzturk Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Phone. With the phone you can cancel your cards, buy stuff and then phone a lock smith or anyone who would be able to me back in the hoose. Sad as it is couldn’t live without the phone. Can happily leave the house without a wallet or keys.

Locky Posted November 3 Posted November 3 I had a bit of a mad one a few years ago and lost my phone, keys and somehow, glasses. Last remember walking up Elm Row going for the bus back to Musselburgh, and somehow came round in a bus shelter around Corstorphine area. Losing my phone was a real pain in the arse. Never got it back. Had to crash at my old man's until Monday morning when I could phone the letting agents to get access to my flat. Had a spare set of keys in the house too so that wasn't a huge issue. Although after much persistence, I did actually get my keys and glasses back on the Tuesday. Lothian had them all along despite the fact I'd been straight on to them since the Sunday. By which point I'd already had to bite the bullet and order new glasses. 🙄

Wee Mikey Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Years ago when high-tech phones cost an absolute fortune (I know, they still do, but this was in the era when accessing web sites etc. via a phone - especially one with a wee pointer was in its infancy) my mate lost his after a session in the Cumberland bar. Cue a panic land-line call to me whereby I dashed back to enquire. No joy. An insurance claim ensued. Fast forward 3 years and, Hey Presto, as if by magic when shifting a set of drawers in his bedroom for a house move, there it was. I reckon gettin' pissed is at the root of most lost phones, wallets, keys, purses.

Yep lost that earlier this year but got it back via HMFC ( thanks ) but even though it had my cards etc it was easy to cancel them almost immediately." To be fair, it was more the honesty of the cafe employee. Having once dropped my wallet in the Festival Theatre complete with cards, driving license, and circa £200, I went back next day and it had been handed in intact by one of the cleaners. 99% of folks are honest.
Bill Sikes Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Lost key, no problem, got a key safe. Lost phone, got a spare so no problem and everything is salvageable on Google. Don't actually carry a wallet around these days so no bother there either. Have previously lost my wallet, leading to phoning about 20 pubs, the Curry House, the Chinese, 4 taxi firms . . Then phoning banks to cancel all cards, borrowing cash to go on the piss again and then finding the wallet in a shoe. **** knows why my shoe wanted the wallet but it got launched anyway, can't stand thieving.

iantjambo Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Probably wallet. Seldom carry cash these days and everything else is easily cancelled and replaced.
Jambo_jim2001 Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Would have to be keys, wallet is devoid of cash/ cards anything of value, and who would want a PAYG Nokia 33100 with about a quid left in credit 🤔
