Heart Of Midlothian winter transfer window 2025/2026 - Wilson loaned to Spurs; transfer window slams shut

In fairness, we've lost McMeekin to City and Wilson to Spurs. Which kinda flies in the face of that claim

We lost McMeekin for nothing and have got millions for Wilson. What is it that flies in the face of that claim?

The club were actively trying to source a replacement as McInnes was scared of losing Kabore while Shanks is out, hence wanted to keep Wilson.

Wilsons camp stance was you cant have it both ways, ie dont play me but dont want me to go.

Whether we get that replacement tonight is another matter.

I think its also been forgotten that McInnes has also said that Mato and Cesny can play across front line, granted not the physical presence of PLK or Shanks.

Cheers. I’m sure the club have been exploring every possible option today and quite rightly refusing to be held to ransom by a club or player. Certainly won’t have been sitting twiddling their thumbs as some suggest. 😂

We’ve not got millions for Wilson……yet

Oh well , think we might be a big striker short but overall a good window , Kabore performance against Utd makes me feel better until Shanks gets fit , just need to hope he stays clear of injury in that time

We've been a big striker short for a long time now.

Bit disappointed as the pressure is totally on Kabore given Elton isn't fancied by Del.

I really hate that me saying we should sign Watson because like Mulligan he's a talented young Scottish player has turned into me talking up that Hibs *****

Going to leave it now, before I end up sounding like a Hibs cheerleader :P I stand by my point, and that we should absolutely be looking at Watson.

I don't watch Killie enough to judge if he is good or not.

We haven't lost McMeekin for nothing, we get development fee (not sure how accurate but did see somewhere of it being £700,000.)

As mentioned before, I have little doubt in Wilson’s ability and potential. Spurs will make it permanent.

And when Cammy was injured, Beni was suspended, McEntee was injured and Ageu was injured, we were up shit creek and got exceptionally lucky we were able to land Leonard on loan.

if we had not got Leonard we would have played spittal like we did away to Motherwell when we got a really good point

other alternatives would have been jordi or steinwender in midfield or mcentee taking an injection or something

it was only for two games and having another player in reserve who the club apparently doesnt rate (Watson) is just a numbers game like having kartum in reserve

Should kickback HQ set a deadline for the last mention of Callum Paterson in a window thread? Winter 2040?

With our record at scoring goals from corners this season I see  more potential having more wingers atm which we have done ,if it’s not broke it doesn’t need fixing.

Let's hope we have no more injuries up front, or we could be Donald Ducked.

Would be surprised if it’s as high as that. Billy Gilmour was £500,000 at Sevco and he spent 8 years at them.

Hope you’re right though.

Even still, it’s still around £2million less than the Wilson deal

So we need to go into each season with 3 players for each position, in case two get injured? That's not sustainable.

I didn't say that. We have a lot of similar options up front and I don't think we should be adapting the way we play at this stage of the season to suit Kabangu, for example.

Being able to bank potentially £3.2m from academy teenagers is crazy good business. (I saw £2.5m being rumoured for Wilson, maybe on the high end, but either way we'll be making 7 figures all in which isn't bad business at all!)

Absolutely not, I'm just making the point that we'd be daft to assume any system gets 100% of calls correct.

Hugely supportive of JTA and what it has delivered.

Can't sign everyone for Hearts though - we must be targetting higher 👍

at least if we get run down by the OF in the remaining games we’ll know in true jkb style that it was definitely because we didn’t sign a big striker :(

Yeah, its all opinions :) - I've been wrong plenty of times before, and I'm not for a minute trying to say I know better than the best data analytics company in world football  (would love to have that sort of ego though ahahaha)

On Devlin staying, don't get me wrong I want him to stay 100% - but the reality is that he's hitting the prime of his career right now, and as things stand will be a free agent in the summer. He's not signed the deal we've offered, and we've all seen this story a million times before. I don't think Devlin will still be here despite our best efforts. Leonard, is clearly a top quality player at this level (think even from the two games he's played he's capable of playing at a higher level), and I think the Birmingham fans were a bit surprised to see him leave on loan. Even if they do sell him in the summer, clubs like Norwich etc. will be all over him like a rash. Hearts even matching the potential fee is one thing, but then there is wages and the the laddie probably wanting to stay in England and try to get promoted into the Premier League. I think its a tough ask for Hearts to get that deal done.

Absolutely, but that’s the step up in quality we will be looking at, as much as it’s a good idea to have a Scottish core finding those guys isn’t going to be easy as other clubs want a premium deal from other Scottish teams.

He can be a player, a coach a manager a DoF - there's options there

Thought we would have let borch leave on loan. Maybe we did but no one wanted him. Won't do him any good staying on the bench or sometimes not even in the squad till the summer.

He can’t because he was wrong. He claimed we weren’t trying to sign anyone. As confirmed by Sked and @480DM, we were.

Ah, OK. I didn't follow the conversations fully. He did say "no signings" and seemed to get a lot of flak.

I think it’s a legacy of previous transfer policies and/or previous managers.  All the players who left this window are likely on more wages at Hearts than they’d get elsewhere.

Hoping the talent we have now like Kyzi and Braga when they leave will attract significant fees.

Agent's will still be trying to get their player's a move to Scotland right up to 11.00 pm , then we have the out of contract guy's that can pick and choose where they want to play .

Is that a legit Hearts Standard graphic that has misspelt Vargas’s name?

I’m happy with the window though. Genuinely don’t think another striker is needed.

Not really, Wilson aside they’re not really worth anything & high chance we’ll pocket £2.5m from Spurs for him. We’re not going to be selling our proper saleable assets til the Summer at the earliest

I do wonder if it means shanks is a wee bit ahead of schedule. Quite surprised at not getting a striker. Mato fancied as a CF? Certainly not the big target man I thought we’d get.

Didn't look like it on Saturday as he was limping quite heavily and said himself he'll be out for a while

Imagine if the Wilson deal being completed allowed us to let loose the hounds on a last gasp SPLURGE on a striker.

:wow:

Or to put it another way.

Imagine the club punting a 5th choice striker allowed us to sign a first choice striker...

We always leave ourselves 1 short of ideal every window. In the summer it was a right back which came back to bite us pretty quickly. Have to hope Kabore and Braga stay fit for the season and Shankland gets back fit and firing asap.

That said, we have a fantastic squad and we just have to go and win the league with what we’ve got. Bring on tomorrow night. Cmon the Hearts.

We must be loaning Vargas for about a thousand less than his salary.

Because we seemed to have lost a G on him.
