Just bought a greatest hits album of his.

Knew a few of his songs particularly "Once I was" which was famously featured at the end of the film "Coming Home" when Bruce Dern swims off into the ocean and kills himself.

A sad character, Buckley, died at the age of 28 of an accidental overdose.

Music quite melodic and introspective and a wonderful voice.

Father of the late Jeff Buckley who also died young.

Anybody out there familiar with his stuff?

I'm a big fan of his. He wrote some amazing songs and had a fantastic very individual sound. Dolphins is a perennial in my list of favourite songs.

Have to admit to real ignorance in regard to Buckley.

Listening to "Sing a Song for you".

I admit my knowledge of him really came from that film "Coming Home".

Music seems quite ageless actually.

Not really dated I think.

Getting a good vibe from it.

Nelly Terraces

Get 'The Old Grey Whistle Test' DVD Volume 1, and listen to TB's live version of 'Dolphins'. I'd bet any money you'll be hitting the 'rewind' button' on that and playing it time after time. Amazing, melancholic, beautiful.

I have most of his stuff. The best albums are, in my view, Goodbye and Hello, Happy Sad, Blue Afternoon and Dream Letter, the last-named being a double live set from a 1968 London concert.

Most of his later music tends to be critically derided but some of it is actually very good, including Greetings from LA and Sefronia.

The middle, experimental phase, which coincided with his being out of it on drugs a lot of the time, includes Lorca and Starsailor and is pretty hard going at times.

I'm also a big fan of Jeff Buckley - managed to see him twice before he wandered off into the Wolf River.

Eh, why doesn't You tube embedding work anymore? Or am I just being a spod?

A spod? Aussies sometimes call each other "sped" (special education...) but I've never heard Spod before!
