Borch and Milne are significantly better than the rubbish McEntee and totally past is Kingsley. Hopefully they are given a run for games now and not messed about, In due course, possibly next summer, I hope we upgrade on both but for now they should start every match.

I wouldn't say Kingsley is past it, he's looked good in the games we've won to get us to where we are.

 

In fact, I can't really fault any of the guys who have played at the back because our goals against  is quite impressive, Motherwell at home apart.

 

Middle to front is a massive problem.

We are the top scorers in the league so middle to front is not really the problem either! We have a decent defence and a decent attack bit only decent. The issue is we simply don't, as yet, have enough quality throughout our side. It will come but the fast start to this season has given a ridiculously skewed view to far too many amongst the support.

Wages being paid to the players you list is a significant barrier to offloading them. See Dhanda loan to Dundee as a point of reference. We've been sucked into paying some players far beyond their worth and what they'd command elsewhere. The reason why we had Jorge Grant for full 3 years of his contract. These guys all need offloaded but it won't come cheap and very little net inflow will be received.

Thought he had a good game, one of the few. Just looked composed on the ball, a natural in the position.

 

A proper right midfielder in front of him would have helped, Forrest had a terrible game.

 

Overall though, no excuse to play McEntee at right back now.

Genuinely think he just doesn’t like the lad, berating him time after time in the first half, never seen him do that with mcintee, I remember an interview after game in the cup games early season when borch went off injured and mcinnes in the interview said “he’ll be fine” and kinda shrugged at it, just a few things give me the vibe he just doesn’t like it. 
 

not that it’ll make any difference but if he starts mcintee on Sunday then I’ll not be happy, fully expecting it though, some black marks appearing for Del now.

I thought he did absolutely fine, couple of passes up the line and couple crosses into the box - a damn sight more than McEntee offers at right back. I like McEntee for what he brings but right now we need better fluidity and balance and I thought he gave us that. 

 

Did anyone else see McInnes going absolutely bananas at him about 10/15 minutes in? What was that about? Couldn't see anything him doing anything wrong.

We have to remember it is the boy's first proper start since his first injury. I thought he looked a much more natural fit than McEntee which is no slight on McEntee either who has done reasonably well playing out of position. He looked tidy on the ball and competed well physically also. He has been fit for a number of weeks so it seems strange that he has not featured and was behind Steinwender who is also not a natural right back. My mate was saying that McInnes kept on at him during the game. He was certainly not the reason that we struggled to break them down.

Heard last night that Findlay is really struggling between games with his ankle injury but is taking injections before each game. That seems unnecessary given we have McCart who is a more than able replacement. Maybe McInnes needs to take the blinkers off with certain players. He was happy to rest our best defender last night, perhaps with Sunday in mind but not rest Findlay who definitely looks below par at the moment.

Yeah if anyone can shed any light on this then please share 

 

Thought Borch was good, he looked to go forward and looks like he can create something from right back, whether it’s a cross or clipping balls in behind/into Kabore 

 

I also thought he coped well physically and won his headers so really not sure why DM doesn’t fancy him

It was because he delayed on a clip up the line to Kabore and went back to Kent IIRC. 
 

He 100% needs to play more often now I just hope his body holds up.

Pass marks for quite a few last night and he was one of them. Only thing I think he done wrong was to hesitate to put a ball forward to Kabore and went back to the CB. But aye, he's all over the place

Ah; yeah bit strange he was singled out by DM for this when I thought Borch was pretty positive with his play (compared to a lot of others) 

 

Here’s hoping he can push on and get a proper run in the team!

It's strange. Unless there's some heavy specific tactical instruction he's not carrying out then I don't see where the issue comes from. He looks a perfectly solid Right Back with a good delivery.

 

Also not sure why he's not on corners/FKs from that side...

He was positive with the ball for the majority of the night. Used the ball well and tried to get his crosses in which I have no issue with, especially when he can put them on a plate like he did for Kabore early on.

Fair enough then, the manager 100% should be going through them for that because it's unacceptable especially at home & has been the number one cause of any of our poor spells over the last 5 years imo - but he needs to do it to everyone & not just single out Borch, who generally was one of the more positive players. Tbf, I don't remember him delaying a pass again last night so maybe the telling off worked!

I don’t think he reacts in the same manner for McEntee though.
 

I haven’t seen him hit a whipped pass up the line in all the games he’s played in that position, never mind delay one.

Tbf I might be wrong as I was sat in the main stand so couldn't see Derek's face, but it looked to me that he was bemoaning the lack of options for Borch to hit. As in having a go at what was going on in front of him. The only time I saw him going off on him was when he was exaggerating an injury to win a foul.

McEntee often does pass it quickly up the line tbh - or at least when we were winning he did. He’s not a guy who takes his time on the ball & maybe McInnes likes that about him.

He’s not got the ability to whip it like Borch though, it’s more of a hopeful smash forwards than a measured pass.

At one stage Milne came over to right side and took it off him and then duly landed it straight onto first defender's head. Milne is a 1 in 3 at set pieces and Kabore a 1 in ten in front of goal.

Managers generally don't give players a doing for having a bad game, it happens. I suspect if they are not following the instruction they were given then that could be the source of the anger.
