Thanks for the feedback.

 

But please keep in mind that these are experimental changes, and we'll have different ones in place next week.  But hopefully once we get the two weeks of testing out of the way, we'll have a good idea of what we need to do with ads after that.

Cannae be bothered downsizing pictures but there is still a massive ad at the top and bottom of page although not intrusive.  Using Iphone.

Here is a strange one, to me anyway, when I am signed out on ipad, I get an advert at bottom of screen 10-12 mm high but does not interfere with anything, when I log in there are no adverts

Yeah, working a lot better on my Samsung mobile. No adds at the bottom of the screen, preventing you from reading new replies. The screen was jumping about when you were typing a reply but that not happening now either.

Yeah I've a Samsung too and no annoying ads at bottom of screen either.

Just noticed now, that the posts I have replied to regarding this thread, do not appear in safari and vice versa for bravo. Or has that always been the  case? 

On a plus note, for ages on safari when pressing go to newest post when on a thread, nothing happened, I had to go out of thread and back in to see newest posts,  now it is working again.

Still got ads with a cross at bottom of screen. Not too bad when scrolling to read.

 

But writing a post, especially if replying, can be a nightmare with the ad constantly getting in the way of my typing thumb.

Yep much better now. Only adds at the bottom and no hidden buttons. Back to being usable.still got the wee x in the corner but I can now get rid so not too intrusive 

using Google on an iPhone

As soon as I read it again, when it had been posted, I thought maybe I should edit it, to make it understandable to anybody  who speaks English as a 1st language🤪. 

When i was using Safari and posted on the thread  it appeared on the thread as normal, but then when I used Brave to open Kickback and looked at same thread,  it was not there.

Now ok, so alls well that ends well, must try and practice thinking and writing at same time.

I have an adblocker (in fact, I think I use different ones on my phone and desktop), but I have JKB whitelisted.  Apart from anything else, if I didn't do that I wouldn't be able to check what's going on with the ad displays.

We've had some good feedback on this thread, and on the thread in the Shed.  But it is interesting (to us, at least) that only a small proportion of our active members have commented.

 

Is it possibly the case that most members don't really notice the ads?

Thanks for the comments.  As you can see from other posts we're getting mixed reactions, and of course the changes this week are tests.  We'll be testing different changes next week so we can figure out what to do for the future.

I think most people moved over to Brave unless they had really good pop up blockers etc.

 

I've moved back to browsing on Firefox since the changes were made and haven't had a problem.  However, I'm in work at the moment and using Chrome.  I can't open any hyperlinks by simply clicking on them (JKB only).  I have to right-click and open everything in a new window.

Aha ... just tried that and it did indeed go away.

Yeah bottom of screen pop up ad is a pain especially when it’s flashing on / off. [I assume it’s a good money generator for JKB]

Whilst ‘hitting’ the X removes it, navigation to another thread or home page ensures it promptly returns so constantly removing it becomes rather tedious! 

However it’s fair to say it is an improvement on the base version but not as good as Test 1 changes!

We swapped things around a bit at about 9:30 this morning, and we're going to test that setup for about a week.  We can't say exactly what people will see.  It can vary depending on your device and browser, and even in some cases your location.

 

We'll take all the feedback we can get, and we're particularly interested in (1) how the bottom of the screen is behaving and (2) the full-page ads that a few members have described to us.

Still seen a full page one today, will try and see if its more or less frequent. I can live with hem anyway, its the bottom "popup" one that has returned that raises the blood pressure.
