B Team game

6’ GOAL Hearts open the score just 6 minutes into the half. Some good football on the edge of the box eventually finds Joshua Radcliffe who fires home for Hearts BBFC 0-1 H.B

13’ GOAL Hearts double their lead. A good run on the edge of the box by Aiden Haddow who then fires away a shot which finds the back of the net BBFC 0-2 H.B

The only one who has stood out pre season is Alfie Osborne. He made the bench for the final two games of last season, but didn't get a debut. DM's recent comments suggests that no-one is ready to step up atm.

I wouldn't say anyone stuck out today against Bamber. The best 3 I would say in the 1st half were the Henry James, Alfie Wilson and Aidan Haddow. Front 3 wanted too many touches especially when they went up 2-0.

I never caught the Burnley game, but I would imagine that the Hearts players and coaches would've gotten more out of the 6-1 defeat than the game against Bamber.

I see John Dodds has officially signed for Everton. Not sure if he only signed today but his former high school has posted photos.

Good luck to him.

I wish more youngsters would take a leaf out of James Wilsons book and see the value in staying.

That's all very well, but you need some assurances about the pathway to first team football if you are to stay. If JD didn't get that, then he is as well playing youth football in England rather than youth football in Scotland.

Time will tell if it works out for JD. He will only be on a scholarship arrangement at the moment as you can't sign a professional contract in England until you are 17 (Jan 26 for JD). He may still be at school up here.

Hearts will have a few decent players in a similar situation, with decisions to make about their futures, when they turn 16 early next year.

I see that the draw for the SPFL trophy is at 1pm today on the SPFL YouTube channel. I'm quite looking forward to this "Champions League" format. It gives the young ones a game against 6 different teams.

I would also expect to hear of a few more loan moves in the next couple of weeks. I see that a few clubs are now striking up the cooperation loans deals with other clubs

Should be good for the youngsters to play against men rather than the academy.

Interesting times ahead

The competition is set up to disadvantage the B (colt) Teams, as they will have to play all their "league" games away from home.

Great experiences for the boys then. I wouldn't get too worried about them playing away, let's be honest, the Spartans isn't exactly the perfect surface.

You need to add the 10 Championship teams who enter at that stage.

may have missed as not seen the draw but are these match days confirmed?

amight get a decent crowd to Edinburgh city at meadowbank with it being an international weekend and no first team (and assuming b team v Civil Service will be moved to accommodate) but if wanting to attend pretty bleak at QOTS away on Tuesday or Wednesday night. )

appreciate in a minority as having an interest but easier for weekends to get to aways than midweeks due to sons training. That said East Kilbride the October international break

I will probably try and catch the first half of the U19s game v Nottingham Forest at the Oriam (noon ko) before heading down to Dunbar (monsoon permitting).

Finished 1-1 at Dunbar.

Dom Plank redeemed himself with a tap in just a minute after Hearts had gone behind.

Hearts dominated for long periods but were toothless up front. Good performances from Henry James, Josh Radcliffe and Dom Plank (second half).

A debut at this level for 15 year old Keir McMeekin who came on after 53 minutes.  His first involvement was to play a pass then got clattered late by a defender, his second was a perfectly weighted pass to Callum Sandilands who had a clear sight of goal, but the keeper saved with his leg.

Thought Keir McMeekin didn't look out of place in the slightest. Hopefully get sight of him again in some of the KDM Cup matches as I think I'm right in saying he can play in them, but not in the Lowland League until he turns 16.

Decent game today, but not a lot of quality in forward areas from Hearts.

I quite enjoyed the game at Dunbar today. It was a good test for youngsters and the pitch looked decent as well.

If they were a bit more clinical then it could've been a convincing victory.

Plank, Sandilands, Haddow and Ross all had chances in the 1st half.

Is anyone else worried about the amount of set piece goals the concede? At least 1 per game, which is a concern.

Young boy Keir looked decent for a 15 year old and it was pleasing to see the older boys encouraging him as well.

I'm assuming that a few of this team might go out on loan this week. Sandilands, Plank, Haddow, Henry, Crookston and Simatek would be the ones for me.

The pitch, for Dunbar, was poor today. I heard some officials talking about it. Apparently they had problems with their irrigation system and the pitch hasn't recovered.

Set plays have always been a weakness for the B Team, mainly down to their lack of physicality against experienced adults. They've generally only had one defender willing and capable of mixing it in most games. Darge, Flatman and Rathie would fit that profile.

Hearts can hardly afford to send any U20s out on loan given the need to field U19 and B Teams.  Nair has already gone out to Spartans.  Sandilands and Plank are actually classed as U21s this season, although one could play for the B Team and both could play for the U19s as overage players.  Given that Sandilands went out on loan last season and doesn't seem close to the first team squad, I'd expect him to go out on loan again (or be released/transferred). McLuckie will be in a similar situation, although he is an age group younger than CS.

That was my first visit to Dunbar Utd and the pitch looked decent, compared to the likes of Tranent, CSS etc

I heard someone say today, that the B team has 9 games in the first 5 weeks. They'll definitely need the squad for it.

Sandilands has to go on loan. Either league 1 or championship.

It'll be interesting to see what happens, as they must have over 30 bodies between the 2 teams.

We'll see what squad they start off with on Friday.

Must be a late change. I was only quoting from the footnote on yesterday's team sheet.  I couldn't make it for any more than the first half of the 2pm ko anyway.

It'll be changed due to something with the 1st team no doubt. McInnes is certainly changing things from what I heard yesterday. I'm sure we'll see more of that over the next couple of months.

Enjoyed U19 game on Saturday. Probably the strongest side/squad they could put out, given 2006s too old. Keir only person who was at Dunbar that would have expected to play in the U19 game. Good team performance and some very good individual ones. Thought Stevenson was my MOTM - played great again and looked like the only player to me who might have been considered for first team training had anyone been watching. Although think it was one of the younger players to actually get the coaches MOTM as he was carrying the NF pennant.

Following above thread, does anyone know if it is 2pm or 7pm tomorrow?

Thx

Of those starting at Dunbar, Josh Radcliffe, Charlie Sanders and Sam Dickov could all have played for the U19s, in addition to Keir. Also James Mulholland and Ryan Kelly from the subs.

Agreed, but thought Keir aside, the others likely don't get minutes given strength of squad.

Intriguing, I presume he is changing things to improve things between U19/B team and the first team.
