Been a few weeks since the last Vargas pile on . Something something stop smiling you ***** something something Premier League … something something seethe

At least he’s smiley and cheery, unlike the grumpy farts on here after a 4-1 win.

His problem is going to be when the new players establish themselves.

No place for him then. Had his chance.

I personally think he’s more effective coming on than starting games. I don’t want to get rid of him just yet as his first season with us was good. The whole team have been underperforming this season (bar Penrice and Spittal) so it’s unfair to call him out on his own as not being good enough.

He’s more than fine for us and could be excellent if coached correctly. Anyone who wants rid and claims he’s crap is just being overly sensitive about his comments. (Comments most players think but generally don’t say it out loud)

When it comes to media savvy he’s an idiot, but he has the attributes to succeed at our level. No idea why people want to pretend otherwise.

This

He also looks better coming from the right hand side than through the middle.

Won the penalty v Aberdeen and scored and assisted on Friday.

Think he will get a few goals 2nd half of the season.

Clutching massively, just like he was on Friday night 🤣

Hands up - I had great hopes for him and reckoned he would kick on this term. He hasn't, with his final balls being just that - Balls !!   (# I'm wrong yet again)

Just needs slagged off more.

Doesn't get enough abuse.

Abuse always makes players better.

I like Vargas and think he would be playing better if people had not been all righteously indignant towards him after that interview , but fair play , I can see that resemblance

Not slagging his playing abilities but agree with Boris he does run like a prancing pony

Probably should be but 4.5 years left on his deal and min £500k to recoup.

I don’t know what to say about him. I don’t know what he’s like in training. But from what we see he is not good enough for the match day squad.

Brilliant. So now we’re slagging a player because he ‘runs funny’.

Yeah , agree with you . Also a lot more harmless than calling him shite or not having skill or ability . Which is patently not true

Nah, he was fine. You’re wanting him to be poor so you can say things like that though. How was your opinion on the performances of say, Forrester, McCart, Grant etc?

I think he runs like that because he keeps his head up unlike Forrest or whoever who stares and the ball / grass when running

I'd imagine he will along with Oda. Unfortunately the Savage recruitment piece isn't littered with success stories.

Bit light hearted humour ffs. As a footballer I'd offload him as he doesn't offer much. Hope this doesn't upset you too much.

Hyperbole, much? He was pretty good for us last season and I was excited to see him kick on this but for whatever reason he hasn't. There's clearly ability in there (composure, I'll grant you, could be better) and he's shown it for both us and Costa Rica, it's just a matter of helping him rediscover it. The storm in a teacup about his comments certainly won't have helped but he's had a few good wee cameos from the bench recently and was solid enough against Brechin so I'm hopeful that wee bit of time out the spotlight and potential incoming competition for his place will spur him on. As things stand he's a perfectly adequate player to have in the squad but if he can rediscover some form then he'll be an asset.

I don't really like him and would be keen to see the back of him.

If we could get whatever money we spent signing him back, then that would be a good piece of business.

Until then, wooo go kenny... just don't forget the ball goes between the sticks and in the net..

Needs to focus on the technical side of just playing Football

He's too distracted by everything off the pitch, including the brutal story of this Season so far, at the Club

As someone else pointed out, he's better starting on the bench, at least until he finds a rhythm

Nicely won penalty, shame that the donkey was on the pitch to take it and the arse manager forgot to assign Elton to penalties

Posted

Will likely be replaced in time but can contribute between now and end of the season for sure. He also had an above average debut season in scorland last year.

Has looked lively off the bench and contributed to a couple of goals on Friday. There are others at the club contributing less.

What is he good at? I genuinely don’t know. Even his pace is a bit of a myth. He’s got a burst of pace, like an acceleration, but he’s not that fast. And any extra time he gets from that burst of pace is negated by his lack of composure. He’s not strong, doesn’t hold it in, can’t header a ball. He’s not brave or hard working. He’s arrogant and selfish, with nothing to back it up. He’s everything I dislike in a player. I imagine he’d be a total nightmare of a team mate.

Hopefully he gets moved on sooner rather than later.

Needs an arm put around him . Carrot player rather than stick . I think he would be doing a better job this season if he had not had all that backlash over his admittedly naive interview back in Costa Rica . I think his time on the bench is more about taking him out of the spotlight and giving him the chance to break in to the team again on merit . We need more than eleven players

Clearly something worked last season for him. 21 years old last term, 9 goals for a forward is a good return. If we had a youngster break through to first team who scored 9 goals in a season we’d be touting him for millions. It hasn’t worked this season and a lot of that is on him, trying to score the best goal possible for the headlines rather than just getting the ball over the line by any means necessary. He needs an arm round him as others said, and for the pressure of starting taken off him.
Across the two seasons he’s averaging a goal every 6-7 games which isn’t terrible for a forward. Definitely has something to back it up, we just want more from him

I've absolutely no agenda on Vargas, his chance he missed before we equalised sums  him up.

You are going on like you're  some sort of oracle on football and are seeing things  us mere mortals aren't..

I've absolutely no doubt his career with Hearts is coming to an end. NC will be trying to offload him in the Summer imo.

McCart had a poor game , Forrester was pretty poor also and Grant was Grant, plenty of endeavour, zero quality,  another who's  Hearts career wil be over in the Summer.

Not slagging him off but he’s had more chances than he probably deserves and I’m yet to see anything that indicates he should be at Hearts. He’s simply not good enough. He has big ambitions which is fair enough but his talent is probably Scottish championship level at best. I wish him well but will be pleased if we can unload him to some other mug in the near future. His positioning is naive at best, he’s like a headless chicken and he couldn’t finish a bag of crisps. I don’t think that’s being harsh.

Vargas has talent but his decision making is terrible.

Wonder what the crossover is with those who cry 'he's only 22' and those seething about young Forrester not having a good game against Brechin?

I’m no oracle, we’re all seeing the same football. What I saw with Vargas was a mixed performance, yes he missed his chance by snatching at it but at the same time we don’t score the 3rd unless he makes the run and cross he does - a run and cross most of our team can’t or don’t do.

The reason I asked about the others is they generally had poor performances and points to critique. And we’re 11th - most team members have been poor and criticism of them would be justifiable. Vargas has not been any worse than most, so why does he get it in the neck more than most? It’s because of what he said to a journalist in Costa Rica. That’s it. And it’s not because he said it, it’s because how fans chose to react to what he said.

Now any performance he has is viewed by some through a different lens than they view other players. Whether folk realise that or not I don’t know, but given the comparable performances of teammates that don’t get it as bad as he does, that’s the only logical reasoning.

How many more games does he get? Hes been here for ove a season and a half already.
Agree about the abuse but its not abuse to say I dont think he will get any better any time soon. Hearts need better forwards than Vargas.
No abuse there.
