Sasha Shulgin Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 (edited) An absolute shambles. Get that armband off him and sit the unfit **** on the bench. He’s showing nothing but disrespect to the club. Edited November 2, 2024 by Sasha Shulgin

Sleepy head Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Dreadful performance and that's being kind. He never got one thing right. His confidence is at zero.
The_razors_edge Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Worst player on the park again today. if he was a summer recruit he’d be getting absolutely slaughtered and the demands to have him dropped would be overwhelming on here. the last 2 seasons mean nothing now. We need to try something else up front.
Leveins Battalion Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 **** off with the Shankland hate, the laddie has been run into the Ground.

He’s setup numerous goals or been instrumental in them in recent weeks. The guy has lost 500k - 1mil in loss easy with Rangers move not happening and the colossal loss of form so it’s not that surprising he’s struggling and hurting. He’s carried us for a full year prior to this slump - the least we can do is standby by him. I’m struggling to think of any replacement. Kent is struggling for form, Gordon reintroduction has not helped the team since the end of the season. Beni is the only surefire pick and he’s not a captain at all. The dearth of potential captains is I think part of the problem and why we’re in this malaise. Well said people have short memories and judge far too easily these days. I don’t think people actually realise how good he is at linking play. It’s what is around him that’s the issue. He single handed got us third last year

Not trying a leg, looks disinterested and unfit. A disgrace of a Captain. Hope his pre contract offer from Berwick Rangers is less than he thinks
Don Dannie Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 The Captaincy needs taken of him and he needs a spell on the bench because his form is not coming back to him when he’s playing from the start.

Pasquale for King Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Drop him, take the captaincy off him and get a replacement in January. Not even sure Boyce would contribute less.
Gordon_1874 Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 I'm almost at the stage of thinking where Boyce should start instead...... Maybe not actually. In all seriousness though he shouldn't be starting games at the moment. He's contributing very little and is like a man down.

best in the land Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 We needed competition for his position but Naismith and the club failed to get it done and now we're left with a striker that needs dropped. Wether it's confidence, fitness or not giving a shit he needs a spell on the bench and a rocket up his arse. If he wants away he's not doing himself any favors or us.

Rannoch Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Can’t say I’ve ever seen such deterioration in a player from one season to the next.

vegas-voss Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 He is going through a horrendous time his form has deserted him and it's playing on his mind big time.He is just going through a massive rut it would probably be better for him to sit it out for a bit.Frustration he is going through isn't just affecting him though this is the problem it's affecting the team.
Perth to Paisley Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 He needs a break on the pitch and away from it. Still our best striker
penicuik jambo Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 He is trying, nothing is happening for him. His touches, control, shots and fitness. All miles off it at the moment. Hopefully one goes in and it changes but at the moment he looks dreadful. One goal in 16 games
Scott980612 Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Lack of form , lack of confidence , lack of fitness , too many games. Whatever one , would think about resting him on Thursday
OmiyaHearts Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 1 goal in 16. Whatever the reasons, he's an empty jersey up front. A liability.
chazza74 Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 He’s totally disconnected himself from the fans , no acknowledgment of the support he’s continued to receive. It smacks of someone who thinks he’s bigger than the club.
Absolute Scenes Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 (edited) The toxicity of starting AND CAPTAINING a player who is not committed to hearts is killing us. His stats from last season are history, I do not care what they look like, I want to see what does this season and so far he has been woeful. This chat about him “giving his all” for the jersey, nah. Signing the best contract we’ve offered a player in our modern era and committing to the club is playing for the jersey. Get him out the squad and play guys that want to be here. Absolutely sick of seeing these consistently horrid performances from him. Edited November 2, 2024 by Absolute Scenes

However I would move him to the bench at Ibrox unless he gets a goal v the Germans.
Shrekeo Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 It is clear he is either shattered, unfit, out of form, lacking confidence, demotivated or wants to leave. Whichever one(s) of these it is, a few domestic games on the bench would seem sensible.
Ricardo Quaresma Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Dropped, deary, deary, deary, deary me Dropped Give the Captaincy back to the Manager and get on with trying to get a new contract here If you reckon you're getting a contract elsewhere then go and get yourself an injury that will see you out for several months

You must not have watched that game today. Shankland did the exact opposite of giving everything for the jersey. He strolled around watching their centre halves pass the ball. His refusal to engage them was absolutely dreadful and helped St Johnstone get back into the game. He also loses the ball every time it’s played to him. James Wilson might be young but I have no doubt he would make a bigger impact. In fact, he could hardly make less of an impact.

He didn’t play well today agree What bugs me on this forum it’s the same people criticising Vargas last week and cause he scores they them idolise him. They know who they are. This is today’s society we live in.
OmiyaHearts Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 BTW he might be forced to rest soon, as he's been booked 6 or 7 times already this season. Suspension on the cards?

JamboJoker98 Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Needs to give himself a shake but mentally and physically he's probably done in, a rest would give him the world of good but also think the team needs it, he was a liability up front today. I wouldn't play him in the mid-week, just give him a rest for Vargas then bring Boyce on

Australis Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 Wonder if he just needs a break. He does play constantly while others get chopped and changed. Steve Clarke never plays him when he calls him up, but he must be on the verge of not getting called up now for Scotland.

Dusty Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 There’s a few options short term if you drop him to the bench. Gordon, Beni, Kent or Devlin as captain. Boyce or Wilson in up top. Not saying Boyce is the answer but I wouldn’t start Wilson yet. Grant, Dhanda, Boyce or McKay into the 10 role and Vargas up top. Push Forrest up. None ideal but may help short term to be able to put him on the bench.

He has been fantastic the past 2 seasons but he's been brutal this season. Needs to lose a couple of stone and get rid of the Billy big bawz attitude. His fitness levels are abysmal for a pro footballer. It's a positive that we have other players scoring so hopefully his confidence returns and he starts finding the net.
All roads lead to Gorgie Posted November 2, 2024 Posted November 2, 2024 It's a strange situation. If he has played too many games then you would expect his body to be lean and athletic at least. Yes we need to encourage him but the attitude he has towards the supporters makes it difficult. I want players to care for the club we all cherish and sadly I don't see that from Shankland at the moment!
