south morocco Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 Will be interesting to see who joins us in January. Can anyone second guess who we are after and what positions etc we want
RustyRightPeg Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 I can’t even begin to imagine, but pace and physicality is #1 on the list across the board. We could have the slowest squad ever assembled.
gordiegords Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 Would like to see grant, boyce and poss mackay moved on if possible, we desperately need some pace and also physicality into this team,
August Landmesser Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 I just want Ellis Simms back (or his nearest cheaper equivalent)

Ideally the striker should be the long term Shankland replacement although that might prove tricky in the January window. We definitely need another option up there. Hopefully 6ft+, fast and can hold the ball up. At least one quality out and out winger with bags of pace.
copa-mundial Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 Two pacey wingers and two pacey strikers.
Mirror Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 At least 1 striker with ability like Shankland. maybe 2 depending on how Wilson gets on between now and then. Not sure about other positions. Other priorities need to be trying to move on the players that are not good enough like Boyce
Taffin Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 Two wingers, two strikers. Needed them in summer and still need them now.

Australis Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 Someone who can drop a shoulder and run at defences.

If Salazar isn't getting a game by January I would expect his loan will be ended. Boyce wont be off permanently unless we pay off his contract, so would be about getting him out on loan. Grant I could see move on, he can have good games but could move. I am not going to start predicting who is coming in as quite frankly who knows.
GBJambo Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 2 strikers . 2 fast wingers and a midfielder please
Jim Panzee Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 Kickback - loads of completely unrealistic targets who would command wages of £8-£10k a week but would sign because Hearts are an amazing huge club Jamestown / bloom - some no mark from Fleetwood or Morecambe who gets slagged on here to high heaven, has a shit first couple of games but ends up being someone like (an uninjured) Hoff worth a couple mil after a few months. Close thread etc
Der Kaiser Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 Can look at some pre-contract offers in Jan for next season. Salah, De Bruyne, Son Heung Min maybe?
JimmyCant Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 A lot will depend on our league position. Still swilling about the bottom end and we’ll need 4-5, probably a couple of loans amongst that. If we’re safe and pushing upwards, 3 of real quality in the forward positions will do. Whatever happens in January, there is a huge squad transition coming in the summer Cant see anyone under contract leaving in January because none of them are going anywhere better than us, unless the Dhanda rumour is true and we can squeeze a bit more of a fee out of it

They are looking for the players that best fit us and are the best value for the money we offer. If that is an English lower league player then so be it.

19/05/2012 Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 We definitely need some pace and power out wide and up top. Also need another centre back if Kent or Rowles get injured. Need to get some players out aswell with the likes of Halkett, Boyce and Grant. Maybe Musa and Salazar but not seen enough to make judgement.
ItsDarrenBarr! Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 I’d say energetic fit players going by the pressing game he seems to like so far (not so much today granted). Maybe not a many in January tho, but I expect a busy summer in and out.

Australis Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 Players who can get to the bye line and fire over and cut back crosses to be attacked by our strikers and attacking midfielders. Atkinson was good at that.

south morocco Posted October 27, 2024 Author Posted October 27, 2024 Interesting views. Not fussy about Taylor but I would give him another chance if fit
Chuck Berry Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 We already have a pacey and direct winger, hopefully Finlay Pollock is pulled back from his loan.

Lord Beni of Gorgie Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 Probably be met with the same anger and derision as Critchley, which obviously shouldn't concern the sane

Jamboross Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 Don't think we'll see many come in to be honest. Brighton and USG aren't particularly active in January, Starlizard/Jamestown/Bloom are all about getting value and January is terrible for value. Might see a couple of loans or perhaps a signing or two from countries who's seasons are finished to freshen things up in attack but I really don't think we'll be making many changes until next summer.
merseyjambo Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 (edited) Wonder if we might take a bit of a dip into the Scandinavian market in terms of free agents or fee signings, or non Russian or Belorussian nationals from their leagues maybe looking for an escape route. Said it many a time, USGs first few signing included free transfers from Accrington Stanley and Portsmouth.
Lone Striker Posted October 27, 2024 Posted October 27, 2024 You'd think the JT analytics thingy could still be used to identify players not getting a regular game at their current club, who score highly against the criteria we're looking for, and who might be available on loan ? Or maybe Tony Bloom has a young up-and-coming striker at Brighton who needs game time ?
