Ideally the striker should be the long term Shankland replacement although that might prove tricky in the January window.  We definitely need another option up there.  Hopefully 6ft+, fast and can hold the ball up. 

 

At least one quality out and out winger with bags of pace.

Other priorities need to be trying to move on the players that are not good enough like Boyce

Yeh, we've some really tidy players but you see the impact of Penrice just driving at people. It's great he does it, but we could do with it coming from the wide midfielders more.

We need another striker ASAP - we also need a physical CM that stays fit, not including Boateng - who I thought was excellent and should never have been brought off.

I would think that we will need to move on a few players in January to get more in as we are a bit overloaded. If Salazar isn't getting a game by January I would expect his loan will be ended. Boyce wont be off permanently unless we pay off his contract, so would be about getting him out on loan. Grant I could see move on, he can have good games but could move.

 

I am not going to start predicting who is coming in as quite frankly who knows.

Kickback - loads of completely unrealistic targets who would command wages of £8-£10k a week but would sign because Hearts are an amazing huge club

 

Jamestown / bloom - some no mark from Fleetwood or Morecambe who gets slagged on here to high heaven, has a shit first couple of games but ends up being someone like (an uninjured) Hoff worth a couple mil after a few months.

A lot will depend on our league position. Still swilling about the bottom end and we’ll need 4-5, probably a couple of loans amongst that.

 

If we’re safe and pushing upwards, 3 of real quality in the forward positions will do.

 

Whatever happens in January, there is a huge squad transition coming in the summer

 

Cant see anyone under contract leaving in January because none of them are going anywhere better than us, unless the Dhanda rumour is true and we can squeeze a bit more of a fee out of it

I think its something people need to be prepared for, that not all Jamestown signings will be exotic foreign players. They are looking for the players that best fit us and are the best value for the money we offer. If that is an English lower league player then so be it.

We definitely need some pace and power out wide and up top. Also need another centre back if Kent or Rowles get injured.

 

Need to get some players out aswell with the likes of Halkett, Boyce and Grant. Maybe Musa and Salazar but not seen enough to make judgement.

I’d say energetic fit players going by the pressing game he seems to like so far (not so much today granted). Maybe not a many in January tho, but I expect a busy summer in and out.

Players who can get to the bye line and fire over and cut back crosses to be attacked by our strikers and attacking midfielders.

By the end if the season Taylor, Salazar, Boyce, Halkett, McKay and Grant will all be moved on. That’s a lot of wages freed up.

any player can get injured mate, he’s young enough, an international and showed enough to show that he could be highly valuable to us.  Will be interesting to see but I think we may take the gamble

Don't think we'll see many come in to be honest. Brighton and USG aren't particularly active in January, Starlizard/Jamestown/Bloom are all about getting value and January is terrible for value. 

 

Might see a couple of loans or perhaps a signing or two from countries who's seasons are finished to freshen things up in attack but I really don't think we'll be making many changes until next summer.

Wonder if we might take a bit of a dip into the Scandinavian market in terms of free agents or fee signings, or non Russian or Belorussian nationals from their leagues maybe looking for an escape route.

Said it many a time, USGs first few signing included free transfers from Accrington Stanley and Portsmouth.

You'd think the JT analytics thingy could still be used to identify players not getting a regular game at their current club, who score highly against the criteria we're looking for, and who might be available on loan ?

 

Or maybe Tony Bloom has a young up-and-coming striker at Brighton who needs game time ?

Are all their contracts not up at the end of the season? Can't see us getting any bids in January tbh.
