He was elected to the board as a director by the members.  The other FoH directors then elected him as chair.  All democratic.

And had been watching Hearts longer than Wallace Mercer had when he became club chairman.  😀

How do you think the FoH chairman should be elected?

This is the right time for the whole model to be looked at and changed. 1 Director is standing down with maybe more if rumours are to be believed. Mallon moving down to Newcastle. FoH is now obsolete and is nothing more than providing a firewall for the HMFC Board. FoH has been terrific, has served its purpose which finished when the shares were transferred. If you don't move forward you go back.

100% best post ever

Will anything happen no until the penny drops and pledgers withdraw and make the board or the FOH reassess.

Last home game saw lots of FOH giving out cards to further the cause.

We should have paid off AB by now but every year we Invest in something nothing to do with on the pitch.

So be borrow more and more money from AB who is getting commercial rates of interest.

It’s a hard sell to any old heads and the younger ones don’t give a shite.

Making fans more involved as in some information or update would help considerably.

I don't agree and I know that it's going down, as per the last accounts.

In her eyes Budge has owned this club since she jumped in and saved us. That was 10 years ago.

She is as influential now as she was before, it’s her club and her ultimate decisions on the big stuff.

Until we can break free from her clutches then we are expected to pony up money and shut up. It’s her board, her people and her money to do what she wants with.

A graceful but clean exit has been needed for years. Zero trophies in her time and dreadful managerial appointments. The last 48 hours is typical. We get the proper identification of a quality manager (analytics game changer) yet can’t make the deal work (her bit).

Your views on Budge are even more misguided than your views on VAR

It’s almost impossible to sack a board but it’s possible to make the case a board member is voted off.

Never going to happen as the FOH in the boards back pocket

How on earth did a nothing to do with Hearts become the chair of the FOH

And I believe Mallon is still standing for re-election even though he is relocating with Tesco down to Newcastle.

I look forward to a man replacing Budge as chairman- and our usual suspects still being all crosspatch at the board when we hover about 3rd and 4th in the league…

Other FoH directors reside outside Edinburgh, even further away than Newcastle.

I must admit I do not like Mallon and even if he lived in the hotel I would be against his standing. I didn't know that about the others.

If evidence was needed that you don't know what you're talking about, the bit in bold provides it.

Not meet him, but listened to him. He's no doubt like a senior manager in CEC who when you meet him he comes across as very polite and charming, says all the right things required at the time, but when the meeting is over he just falls back into his incompetent, arrogant self. Most CEO's I have meet are all the same.

Kind of neutral in a football supporter kind of way, and few (if any) non-negative posts in his short time as member of JKB... He seems to doing his best to turn the forum against the board/Ann Budge with posts that suggest inside knowledge of Hearts' board that he is clearly making up in an extremely childish manner.

I feel like this thread got off to a strong start as people vented their frustrations at the gutter press reports on the Høgmo talks FAILING (😄) but now that people have had a bit of time to think about it , it is badly running out of steam . Most of the level headed non mentalists that were irritated by the news have all calmed down now , leaving only the absolute bampots and Hibbies to carry the chorus of whining forwards

What we need is another clickbait trolling article from a weegie news outlet to get the pot boiling again

Just a thought to cheer up a Sunday - Hearts fans who are also Scotland fans - of which many of us are, have a real cross to bear.....In the last 32 first class matches Hearts/Scotland have played we have won a combined total of TWO matches (one each) ......at least its Sunny outside

The Board at SFA as culpable as the Board HMFC. Neither have a clue how to go about it all differently. Results just don't lie.

Board need told quite clearly on Saturday to get the feck out of the club.

Taking the absolute piss out of us with a Poundland appointment as manager.

Lack of ambition is laughable.

If Ann budge was a bloke she would have had hell of a lot more flak in her 10 years than she has had fact. 3 years ago we had a better quality squad, since then they have had 3 more years of foh money plus euro money yet player recruitment has got worse as money was used for hotel, and as for managers in 10 years basically from craig levein old pals act. Stendel she didnt like cause he wanted to change way club was going. He failed we went down but wasn't exactly helped by board even having craig turning up at riccarton. Now Critch seems to be man and already fanbase is split again. Apart from first spell under Robbie the club and board have never been fully united. For all the good business deals outside, the board don't treat the fans as their customers, the Pr and way we are treated by board is not great, which is poor for club we get told we own which we all know we dont. We don't own anything we are cash cow for board to use money from it, which they do. Do we have any real say, through foh, no, nobody questions board ever, we are paying good money into club that is fan owned, but it isnt, money was used for stand and hotel, now its the training ground next and ran by Ann and board simple who don't care what we say or think its their club, its their decisions and if they muck up its on them.
