There is zero chance that 16 teams have 11pts or more. 16th is only on 6 now with 2 games to go!!!! 10 will likely be 9th-16th never mind 12.

We'll see.   There are teams below us who may well come into the equation.

If 10 doesn't get there,  we need 12.   We can't get 11.

Appreciate that but the confusion came off us both appearing to discuss your post about a point being enough to qualify.   They're two different things.

I think 11 will get 16th.   But we can't get 11.   We can get and therefore need 12.

If 10 does it then even better but I'm sceptical on that.

I think at least 99% of Hearts Fans will take 10 now

I will

Too true.   I would take 7 and falling over the line for 24th by a goal.

It's all possible though and when it's possible,  it's as well to have hope.

I’m not really giving an opinion here, mathematically speaking it is very probable any team on 10pts is highly likely to finish in the top 16 and therefore be seeded.

However this is my opinion on where teams finish on certain points:

13pts or above definitely top 8

12pts good chance sneak into top 8

10-11pts definitely seeded 9th-16th

9pts 17th-18th so unseeded

8pts 16-24th

7pts 22nd-24th

6pts pack your bags

Chelsea 2 up at 28th minute, they're like Jupiter dealing with a few of our rivals like the big planet pulling asteroids away from Earth, nice of them

Hopeful that fiorentina can do the same

10pts would be an excellent achievement and I think would get us the 2nd leg at home in February. 9pts still more than acceptable before a ball was kicked though we’d likely be underdogs unless we get lucky with the draw. Less than that now would be a disappointment and 4 losses a completely unacceptable and unmitigated disaster after winning the first two. I think it will be the middle ground of loss tonight, win next week. Hopefully they surprise me this evening!

😬  I'm not all that sure there's anything between our opinions.   At most we're a point apart for 16th.

You've stated your opinion,  despite "not really giving an opinion here",  so I'll leave my tuppence worth regarding 7pts and 24th place and then I'm going to say no more and respect your opinion.

24th will have 7pts.   But so will 25th and 26th.   So goal difference decides.   We can only be minus 2 at very best on 7 points.   Dicey.

Respect,  goodbye,  good luck,  I'm off for a Curly Wurly.

Second leg at home will suit us for sure. Really hope the boys turn up tonight. Another great following here in Copenhagen, we are due a win in one of these games.

Petrocub has to be nailed on 3 points surely tae f**. They are already out of contention and they’ve  got Betis tonight

Avoid a spanking tonight and give Petrocub a hiding and see where that finishes us. 9 points MIGHT get top 16. 10 PROBABLY would so a point tonight will do very nicely

Ah well,  academic now.   No top 16.   Minus 3 GD will take a small miracle to sneak in so it's simple.   Win to qualify.

Unless of course 15th to 18th falls on 9 point teams?

We are very marginally most likely to get Betis.   Looks like they should be on 10 points.   We should be on 9.   Says to me that Betis will finish 13th to 16th,  with us 17th to 20th.

A point on Thursday steers us away from Betis and right into a real chance of the other two?

We are very marginally getting knocked out

We have a chance anyway.   Stay in the game all the way to the end and see if it falls our way.

Most Hearts thing ever would be us winning next week, Copenhagen losing or drawing in Vienna and we end up with a 2 legged play off against them

Is there anyway that if we win we still don’t qualify?

No. A win 100% qualifies us. We will know more later this evening as to what a draw would likely mean.

Going to be a hard game. Hopefully start really fast, but looks like by other games they sit in. They might fancy it against us though

No. It's already drawn. 9th Vs 24th. 10th Vs 23rd ...

Top 8 through automatically to last 16.

9th to 16th seeded with 2nd leg at home. 17th to 24th away from home 2nd leg.

My understanding, though this could be wrong, is that 9th and 10th are paired and play against one of 23rd or 24th, 11th and 12th are paired and play against one of 22nd or 21st etc etc. If we do the business next week we will need some luck in the draw.

We’ve basically no chance of making it through a 2 legged play off against some of the teams we could face with our European away record, however getting to the play off would be a decent achievement.

Think this is right.   9th & 10th vs 23rd & 24th in a kind of pool mini draw.

Certainly be underdogs in plenty ties but could get a Shamrock Rovers or Olimpija who lost at home to Cercle tonight. Going to be a fair bit luck involved. Let’s do the business first and then worry about it.

Massive match for the club next Thursday. A win is easily worth 7 figures and potentially quite a bit more.

I don't really care who we might play.   It's about avoiding the embarrassment of butchering our campaign.

15 group or league matches played since Feyenoord 2004.   No drawn matches.   🤨

Not directed at any poster in particular but I’m always surprised, when people are surprised about just how far behind these teams we are. We wouldn’t have a single player who’d get in their extended squad never mind their first 11.  It’s the equivalent of us playing and tired and injury suppressed airdrie at home

Yep.

If we finish the group with 3 wins and 3 defeats (still a bit to do on that front) then that can definitely be considered a job well done. Even more impressive given what is the absolute cluster**** that has been this season.

Games tonight going reasonably well as far as final position would be concerned (assuming 9 points) but it’s fairly clear 7 points won’t be enough because of our GD

All or nothing vs Petrocub

APOEL 1-1 (H)

Larne 4-1 (A)

TNS 2-1 (H)

Rapid Vienna 1-1 (A)

Borac 1-0 (H) latest score

Qiote a friendly fixture list but a tremendous result in Austria, one we look incapable of. Fine effort all around. They go to Stamford Bridge Match Day 6. Would still be thrilled to get them in the play offs mind you!

Real Betis only beat Petrocub 1-0 tonight so everyone thinking we're going to win this game easily could be in for a shock.

Looking at their games so far Petrocub like to surrender possession and try to hit on the counter. They don't manage many shots but they've made life difficult for better teams then us. They're exactly the sort of team we struggle against domestically.

I do think we'll get the job done but it'll be a tight, frustrating game and we can't be wasteful when a chance comes our way.

If they're smart, they will. I'd prefer they came and had a go because I think we'd be more likely to get a result if they did, they're out anyway so maybe they'll just throw caution to the wind but I doubt it.

We're going to have to go for the win as looking at scores tonight and next week's fixtures I don't think 7 points will be enough with our goal difference.

I read that Foleys Black Knights are planning to buy them , so they will likely move above hibs in the pecking order .

Posted

It's fine.  Win for top 24.  9 points could never not qualify unless the simulations were impossibly flawed.

Mind but,  Rapid and Jagiellonia both losing.  Expect the unexpected.

Are they even a full time team?

All teams 25th and below on 4 points, were uncatchable to all of them if we win regardless with what they do, meaning we’re in the playoff. Petrocub only picked up one point the whole campaign against *checks notes* the team that royally humped us twice a few years ago…

Unlikely that a draw will be enough next week
